I served in the Army.
James "Jim" Dean Montgomery, Sr.I am a Veteran.

of Conway, AR

July 22, 1935 - September 6, 2019

James D. Montgomery, Sr, 84, of Conway, Arkansas, went to be with the Lord Friday, September 6, 2019. He was born July 22, 1935 in McDonald, Kansas to the late Burl and Nellie Montgomery. Jim was preceded in death by his brothers, Danny Montgomery and Lindon Montgomery.

Jim Montgomery was a faithful member of the Enola Church of Christ, teaching and serving as treasurer for many years. He devoted his life to family and friends. He was always there lending a helping hand to anyone in need. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and a good practical joke, especially one that he could instigate without getting caught. Jim was loved very much by his family and friends, who will dearly miss his mischievous smile, hugs and stories.

Growing up on the family farm in NW Kansas he was very active in the 4-H and FFA programs. Jim made the military his career after being drafted into the Army in 1957, A Vietnam Veteran; with a 20-year career he was awarded numerous medals and commendations including the Bronze Star, the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry and the Army Commendation Medal.

He made his love of flying into a 2nd career when he joined Yellow Bird Express. He was the owner of the Lazy J Mobile Home Park in NLR.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving family; wife of 62 years, Mary Montgomery; son, James D. Montgomery, Jr. (Carolyn) of NLR; daughter, Kathy Hoffnagle of Vilonia; grandsons, Colton and Mason Hoffnagle of Conway; brothers Denis Montgomery (Carolyn) of Poplar Bluff, Mo and Monti Montgomery (Mark) of Crown Point, Indiana; sister, Connie Bretz (Rus) of Dighton, Kansas; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Wednesday, September 11th, at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Conway. Funeral service will be 10:00 am, Thursday, September 12th, at Enola Church of Christ with interment to follow at Crestlawn Memorial Park in Conway.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Enola Church of Christ Youth Group, 253 Highway 107 N, Enola, Arkansas

I and my family are so blessed that we were able to come down and visit with you and raise your spirits. The children really enjoyed you joking with them. God has a wonderful soul joining him up in heaven.
