of Conway, AR
March 12, 1948 - February 15, 2019
Maggie (Margaret Sue) Elmore Buntaine, 70, of Conway, Arkansas passed away Friday, February 15, 2019. Born March 12, 1948 in Arkansas City, Kansas, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Gladys Elmore.
Maggie founded Maggie's Original Cookie Company in 1987. She took a leap of faith, a box of cookies and found a banker to believe in her in order to realize her dream, which began while baking alongside her mother as a young child.
Her cookies are known for their made from scratch qualities using family recipes, the best ingredients, baked and served with love. Her measure of success is the community of loyal customers and employees which became as family.
Maggie had a love for music fostered since childhood; was an avid reader; and loved all animals, especially her cat, Samson, friend to Lucy, and Ki.
Maggie devoted her life to God, and was an eternal student of the Bible. Her strong personal faith allowed her to connect with others of various religions and beliefs.
Maggie led her life with a joyful spirit of compassion, kindness, laughter and love which she freely gave to all.
Maggie is preceded in death by her brother, Mark Elmore; sister Marilene Moore; and nephew Brian Lammy.
She is survived by her loving son, Michael Buntaine of New York, NY; brother Leonard Elmore of Vassar, KS; sister Naomi Lammy of Parsons, KS; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be on Monday, February 18, 2019 at 1:00PM at Roller McNutt Funeral home, Conway AR. Visitation starting at 12:00PM, prior to service. Graveside services will be on Wednesday, February, 20, 2019 at 11:00AM at Prairie Lawn Cemetery, Wellington, KS under the direction of Frank Funeral Home.

My heart goes out to the entire Maggie’s family on the passing of Maggie. She will be missed for always having a warm smile and amazing baking skills. As good of a baker as she was, she was a better person.
Maggie and I attended grade school, Junior and High school together. We reconnect through Facebook several years ago and through our Faith in Jesus Christ we fellowshipped and prayed together. Maggie, your smile will brighten Heaven and I will remember it until we meet in Paradise. God be with the family and friends far and near, heal their sorrow.

Sorry for your loss. Maggie and I have been friends for 55 years or so. She fought a good fight. May God wrap his arms around the family during this time of sorrow. She was a special lady
Maggie’s cookies and treats were a staple of my childhood. Birthdays, graduations, holidays, family gatherings, or just because you drove by the shop, were all good reasons to get a treat from Maggie’s. Ms. Maggie made more than cookies, she made memories for me and the thousands of others who were lucky enough to come through her doors. She will be missed.
We will miss you. Prayers for the family. May you rest in peace. Love you.

I’m so sorry for the great loss of Maggie’s family! Such a beautiful soul that all of us in Conway were blessed to know. All of us could learn from her. She had such a joyful spirit and so much kindness. You always felt special around Maggie. My family has many memories with Maggie from my sister and I babysitting Michael to my niece growing up in the cookie store and eventually working for her. We love you Maggie and will miss you dearly!!!â¤ï¸ðŸ™
Wonderful lady will be miss in many ways.
Ms. Maggie was a wonderful lady who shared a lot of love and cookies with UCA students through the years. Even after leaving UCA, I would have her cookies shipped to me as I could not find any to compare. I think her cookies were the best b/c she put the best ingredients and love into baking them. Her love of God showed through to her customers. I know she is enjoying her cancer-free eternal life. My prayers for her family and staff who will miss her.

Ohhh dear Maggie! So sorry and sad to see this! What a sweet wonderful woman of God! Such dear dear memories from 20+ plus years ago at Hendrix eating cookies, especially Snickerdoodles and Carrot, washing dishes and smiling with Maggie and her ever present smile and friendliness. So glad we would stop and see her when in Conway. Our sincere condolences to her family and close friends. She was a friend to many. We take comfort that she is in the presence of her Saviour.

My prayers are with her family. This is heart breaking. RIL
