James Hugh Graham, 73, of Conway, AR, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, January 15, 2019. He was born August 7, 1945, in Searcy, AR, to Howard and Norma (Stracener) Graham. James was preceded in death by his son, Jonathan Graham; his parents, Howard and Norma Graham; and his brother, Johnnie Graham.
James served 2 years in the Army stationed in Korea during the Vietnam War. In June 1968 he married the love of his life, Karen Box, in Ft. Worth, TX. He later graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University in 1974 with a Bachelor of Science degree in computer science and worked 33 years as a computer programmer/analyst for various companies. James was a faithful member of the Prince Street Church of Christ in Conway. He devoted his life to serving God and his family. Singing gospel hymns, reading stories to his grandchildren, and eating his beloved wife's cherry pie were some of his favorite ways to spend time. James was loved very much by his family and friends, who will dearly miss his beautiful bass voice, his famous sweet tooth, and his passion for collecting smiley faces.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving family: his wife of 50 years, Karen Lynn (Box) Graham of Conway; children, Kayla (Steve) Lagerquist of Overland Park, KS; Jason Graham of Conway; and Kara (Derek) Ladd of Round Rock, TX; 9 grandchildren '''' Aly Lagerquist of Olathe, KS; Kari Lagerquist of Granby, CO; Alyssa Graham of Conway; Lynnsey, Elizabeth, and Brooklynn Graham, also of Conway; and Caleb, Savannah, and Andrew Ladd of Round Rock, TX; sister, Nita (Chip) Patrom of Conway; brothers-in-law, Ron (Kathy) Box of Allen, TX and Gary (Helen) Box of De Berry, TX; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins, and a host of friends.
Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00pm, Sunday, January 20, 2019, at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Conway. Funeral service will be 1:00pm, Monday, January 21st at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home with interment to follow at Crestlawn Memorial Park in Conway.
He was a great granddad he cared about his family. He love to eat lots of sweets when he had a sweet tooth. I miss him a lot it was hard when he pasted away he is missed a lot we all miss him. I miss you granddaddy.
Martha and I have been praying for James since learning of his sickness. We are sorry to lose him, but rejoice for the hope that he had and that he passed on peacefully at his home. We were blessed to have known him.
