Edna Earle (Young) Pence, 101, of Conway, AR, passed away Thursday, November 29, 2018. She was born April 28, 1917 in Malvern, AR to the late John Elmo and Edna Earle (Murry) Young. She was also preceded in death by husband of 59 years, Richard M. Pence, Sr., daughter, Catherine Murry Pence, four brothers, Gordon E. Young, John M. Young, Tom Ross Young and Paul B. Young, four sister in-laws, two nephews, two nieces and one great niece.
Edna Earle graduated from Malvern Public Schools and attended Hendrix College. She married Richard M. Pence on March 22, 1939 in Malvern. Edna Earle was a member of the First United Methodist Church; United Methodist Women, Charter Member of Twentieth Century Club, and Chapter E of the Professional Educators Organization (PEO). She served on the Conway school board for eight years.
Edna Earle is survived by her son, Richard M. Pence, Jr. (Jann); grandchildren, Julie Sevier, David Sevier (Karen), Ann Marie Passmore, Richard Martin Pence, III (Lynnae); great-grandchildren, Anna Ziegler and Spencer Allen; nieces, Catherine Cockrill (Howard) and Virginia Young; nephews, Tom Ross Young, Cary Young (Pam), Robert Young (Judy), Paul Young (Dorothy) and David Young (Marilyn).
Special thanks to Maggie Hays, Jack and Karen Jumper, Tom and Theresa Gerard, Kendall and Sharon Alexander for the love and kindness they have extended to our family during the years.
In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to First United Methodist Church of Conway.
A graveside service will be Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Oak Grove Cemetery in Conway, AR, with a memorial service shortly following at 11:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Conway, family meal immediately following.
