Freda Hankins Thompson passed away the 18th of June 2018 in Conway, Arkansas. She was born in Pine Bluff, AR the daughter of the late Mr.& Mrs. Guy F. Hankins, Sr., where she was a 1950 high school graduate, and later attended UCA in Conway.
She worked in the Legal Department of Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. in Dallas, TX and Pacific Tel. & Tel. Co. in San Diego, CA. She was a real estate broker in Conway for several years and retired from the University of Central Arkansas in 1994.
Mrs. Thompson has lived in Conway for over 50 years. She was a long time member of Central Baptist Church where she formerly taught the Ladies Sunday School Class, led a Girl's Auxiliary group, and performed with the Grace Outreach Singers, a senior musical drama group. She enjoyed golf and was proud of making a hole-in-one at the age of 66.
Mrs. Thompson was married for 60 years to William E. ''Gene'' Thompson who died in 2010. She is the mother of one daughter, Dr. Sheri Thompson Carder Gunter (Larry) of Lake City, FL; two sons, William E. ''Bill'' Thompson II (Carolyn) of Albuquerque, NM; and Guy Steven Thompson (Caroline) of Santa Barbara, CA; five grandchildren, Beau Carder (Sara) and Mary Caroline Thompson of Dallas, TX; Dr. Casey Carder Rockwell (Eric) of Little Rock; Dustin Thompson of Dallas, TX; and Aimee Thompson Wyatt (Kevin) of Austin, TX; and five great-grandchildren Capri, Alex, Maddie, Taylor and Whit. She is survived by two sisters, Doris Hankins Lenox and Carolyn Hankins Wright of Hot Springs, AR. She was preceded in death by a sister, Lucille Hankins Wolfe; and two brothers, Guy F. Hankins, Jr., and former State Representative Hubert A. Hankins.
Visitation will be from 6pm to 8pm, Thursday, June 21, 2018 at Roller McNutt Funeral Home in Conway. Funeral services will be on Friday, June 22, 2018 at 10:00am preceded by an early visitation at 9:00am, both at Central Baptist Church with Bro. Don Chandler officiating. Burial to follow at Crestlawn Memorial Park.
Pall Bearers will be: Grandsons Beau Carder, Dustin Thompson, Eric Rockwell, Kevin Wyatt; Craig Cloud, Bart Castleberry, Derrick Vest and Steve Schrekenhofer.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Central Baptist Church Food Pantry or Soaring Wings Ranch for Children, both in Conway.
