Dana Maile Gainey

of Conway, AR

September 13, 1967 - February 24, 2018

Dana Maile Gainey ended her battle with cancer 7:00 am Saturday February 24, 2018 at home in Conway, Arkansas. She was born Kong Ja Park in Seoul, Korea, September 13, 1967 and after November 28, 1971, grew up in Apple Valley, Minnesota as Dana Maile Durigan, having been adopted by Dennis Leroy Durigan and Claudia June Schepp Durigan. She is survived by her husband, Brian Gerrard Gainey, and three sons Austin Gerrard, Carson Hocott and Elliott James, parents, Denny and Claudia Durigan, brother Drew Allan Durigan, parents-in-law Hugh and Elaine Gainey, Brother-in-law Dale Gainey and his wife Amanda, sister-in-law Claudia Gainey Bement and a host of friends who regularly got together for special trips and retreats.

Dana graduated with a B.S. from Harding University and M.S. from The University of Central Arkansas. She and Brian married on May 18, 1991 and lived in Conway, Arkansas where she worked for Acxiom. She loved to cook and entertain. She was active in Zeta Rho and International Friendship Outreach. She attended and was active at Conway's First Baptist Church.

She was far more than a beloved daughter and sister, a devoted wife, a fiercely protective and loving mother, an ardent friend, and respected colleague. Dana was beautiful, supremely confident, fearless, determined, precise, competitive, organized, adventurous, faithful and hospitable. She will be profoundly missed.

There will be a service celebrating the life of Dana on Friday, March 2 at 12:00 noon at Conway's First Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to CARTI, Arkansas Hospice and/or CaringBridge.org.

So sorry for your loss may you find peace and comfort in the words spoken at
2 Corinthians 1:3 & 4" Praised be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of tender mercies and the God of all comfort,  who comforts us in all our trials so that we may be able to comfort others in any sort of trial with the comfort that we receive from God

I am so terribly sorry to hear of Dana's passing. Dana and I were neighbors with a vacant lot between us as we grew up on Reflection Road in Apple Valley. My childhood would not have been the same without her in my life. We spent countless summer days running around the neighborhood on big wheels, swimming in the lake and the pool, doing makeup demos on each other and many, many sleepovers! My sister, Lisa, Dana and I were inseparable. Then Tracy Monro moved into the neighborhood and we were all fast friends! These are the memories I will cherish and this is how I will always remember Dana. The fun loving great friend that she was!

God bless the family. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

Love,

Michelle

When I think of Dana, I think of her smile. She had one of the best. I have lots of great memories of our younger days together. Our boys playing and our talks about every subject under the sun are some of my favorite memories. I look forward to seeing that beautiful soul again.
"Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. 14 For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him. " 1 Thes 4:13-14
