James Mayo, Sr. 83 of Bigelow passed away Friday, October 18, 2013. He was born November 6, 1929 in Mena, Arkansas to the late Earl N. Mayo, Sr. and Dona Pate Mayo. He was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, member of the Knights of Columbus Council # 6680, member of the Cattleman's Association and an Army veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary Ann McAlister and husband Edwin of Bigelow; Paula Ready and husband Gene of Aiken, South Carolina; son, James W. Mayo, Jr. and wife Annette of Oklahoma; five grandchildren, Robert Mayo, Roger Conner, Jr., Edwin McAlister, Jr., James McAlister and Paul Dalton Mayo; three great-grandchildren, Hayley and Caitlyn Mayo and Joshua Conner and his sister Oma Lee Knowles of Mena.
He was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-one years, Joanna Mayo, two brothers, Clarence and Earl Mayo, Jr.
Services are 10 am Monday, October 21, 2013 at St. Boniface Catholic Church. Burial in St. Boniface Cemetery with Father Richard Davis officiating. Rosary will be at 9:00 am Monday at the church.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 pm Sunday at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Conway.
