Sending my deepest condolences and prayers to the Wood family. I was fortunate enough to know and serve with Kevin in 2nd Battalion, 142nd Field Artillery Brigade for over sixteen years. Kevin was an exceptional Soldier and a genuine and talented leader and mentor. It didn’t matter if he just met you or if he knew you for many years, Kevin always made a positive impression on everyone he encountered, and he always put a smile on your face. I will never forget Kevin’s big heart and mischievous smile, and I will cherish the time we served together forever.

Where do I start..you have been a wonderful friend to us. We have been on several mission trips and could always count on you for help. We were talking the other night about when you cooked balut (cooked duck eggs) you would laugh so hard every time when the students would gag...well..we were all actually laughing pretty hard.

So many memories with you Shelly and the boys. We have always loved y’all like family. We are so heartbroken that you are gone. The Lord was ready for you to come home but our hearts were not. We will treasure our memories of you and the smile that you always wore. We will rest knowing your pain is gone and you are with the Lord above. We love you Kevin.

And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.

Praying for all of you that the Lord will give you peace and courage through this difficult time. Kevin was so loved and respected by so many. His testimony was so strong through his journey. We sang my favorite song in church this morning (It is Well) and the tears just flowed because I could just see Kevin sitting at the foot of Jesus praising him for his healing. In the song it says, “ this mountain that is in front of me will be thrown into the midst of the sea. And through it all, through it all, My eyes are on you, and through it all, through it all, It is Well with me. “. Kevin was so strong in his faith through it all and I know it is well. I’m sure he was greeted by the Lord with “Well done, my good and faithful servant!” We can rest in knowing we will see him again some day but that doesn’t lessen the pain we feel now on this earth. Praying for comfort and peace through the days ahead for every one of you.
