After finishing high school Steve enlisted in the US Air Force on April 30, 1948, and retired as Master Sergeant on September 28, 1968. He received numerous Air Force Commendation Medals for Meritorious Service through his years in the Air Force. In January 1969 he entered Bible college at Ozark Bible Institute, in Ozark, Arkansas. There he met one of the teachers, Betty Levin, daughter of Ozark Bible Institute's founder, A. H. Levin. They married in November 1970. He continued his studies but also worked part time as faculty and graduated from Ozark Bible College & Institute in 1976.
Meanwhile, he had also received an Advanced Teacher's Certificate in the Evangelical Teacher Training Association through the College. Steve and Betty continued as faculty of Ozark Bible Institute, later renamed Citadel Bible College until they entered pastoral ministry in the surrounding region. He pastored churches at Piney, AR, Grove, OK, and other rural churches in the area. Betty Maczko passed away in December 1997, after a long battle with cancer. Steve continued to pastor Piney Bible Church until his retirement.
He lived in Hagarville, Clarksville, and most recently, Hasty, Arkansas. He was a member of Hilltop Bible Church in Clarksville. Though they did not have children of their own, Steve took special interest in the children of his friends. He had a daily prayer list that covered over 300 people from around the globe and was passionate for those serving in foreign missions.

MR. Steve, I will always remember the first time I met you, having coffee with my dad (Basil). Several hours, laughs and prayers later I knew you and my Dad would be best friends. Your flowers and genuine heart will be missed, I know Dad was happy to meet you at the gates of heaven and the two of you have been talking ever since.

Saddened to learn of the passing of Mr. Steve. I'm thankful to have met and known him for even such a short time. Such a fine example of a real Christian American Patriot. A true gentleman. "To live is Christ, to die is gain." Thank you, Mr. Steve...â¤ï¸ðŸ‡ºðŸ‡¸
