Dewey Dee Harrison

of Benton, AR

January 1, 1932 - February 6, 2019

Dewey Dee Harrison, 87, went home to be with his Heavenly Father on February 6, 2019. He was born January 1, 1932 in Tull, Arkansas.

He was preceded in death by his loving daughter, Barbara; his parents Elbert & Avis Ashcraft Harrison; big brother, Robert 'Bob'; and sisters Cora Alice, Noralee, & Betty Lou.

He left behind his baby brother, Henry (Eva); two sons, Paul Christopher & James Riley; several grandchildren & great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Emily; nephews; nieces & also his loving caregivers nieces Diana & Rita Dee.

At one time Uncle Dee owned a welding shop off Edison in Bauxite. He was the only certified welder that could meet State Codes and was called from businesses around Central Arkansas to come do jobs for them so they could pass state requirements.
Later he closed shop and went to work on barges traveling up and down the Arkansas River as the #1 certified welder. After having to retire due to health reasons he took up piddling and homemade crafts. He made walking sticks from trees or limbs to unique art out of other people's trash. One of his favorite places to go enjoy nature was The High Bank in Tull.

We want to thank his caregiver, Rebecca Johnson, who took care of and treasured him before he moved to Amberwood Health & Rehabilitation, and the CNA's and nursing staff at Amberwood. He loved teasing them & giving them a hard time which in turn they dished it right back playfully. 'Dewey' as they called him, loved them & they loved him. He found a caring, loving & supporting friend in each of them.

Also, thanks to Arkansas Hospice for the awesome love & caring support they gave & showed Uncle Dee in his last days of preparing him to go to his Eternal High Bank in Heaven. God Is Good!

To his nephew, Deano, who for the last four days never left his side. Our hearts are forever grateful to EACH of you!

Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 9, at Saline Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Kim Hammer officiating. Serving as pallbearers are Johnny Harrison, Terry Harrison, Joshua Harrison, Jeremy McDade, Jerred McDade, Quinn McCormick, Dean Harrison, and Freddie Duvall. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Eddie Glenn, Henry Harrison, William Davis, Doug Lounsbury, and Troy McDade.

Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, February 8, in the chapel of Roller-Ballard Funeral Home (315-4047).

Uncle Dee this week has been a strange week without you. It felt so weird going straight home from work without stopping by Amberwood to check on you. Not having to worry about you and making sure you are properly taken care of. What is awesohme is that you are in a perfect peace - you are doing everything you have missed doing you are enjoying now in Heaven. Your daughter, Barbie, there with you both smiling and walking in God’s Sweet Grace. My Daddy, Grandma, Grandpa Harrison, your sisters and my Grandma Mora there with you. One day we will all be together again. Through Jesus all things are possible.
Save me a seat because one day I will be there with all of you.🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻♥️

There were many memories of Dee in my life. Stopping on the hill to chat and sit by the fire as we deer hunted the gas line on Tull Hunting Club. Years later stopping by his place to drop off deer meat. He was so appreciative. He made me a walking stick that I've had for many years. I will miss his kindness to all of the Tull kids during Halloween. That was always our first stop. RIP Uncle Dee
