Matthew Clay McGarrah

of Little Rock, AR

March 27, 1979 - November 17, 2010

Matthew Clay McGarrah entered his heavenly home after a courageous battle with an aggressive form of leukemia on November 17, 2010. He was born on March 27, 1979, in Little Rock, Arkansas. He is survived by his beloved mother, Linda Latta, three beautiful daughters, Abigail, Emma and Lily; his aunt and uncle, Robert and Carol Latta; and two cousins, Courtney Latta Knoblock and Heather Latta Beene. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, A.J. and Edith Latta who both adored him. He leaves numerous cousins and friends who mourn him. Matthew was a graduate of Little Rock Central High School and attended University of Arkansas at Little Rock where he was an active member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity. He enjoyed playing golf, duck hunting, and spending time with his family and friends. He was a wonderful father who loved his girls more than life itself and neglected his own interests to play a greater role in their lives. Matt was an extremely kind and generous soul who will be missed greatly by his family and friends.

The family will be receiving friends and family at Matthew's home.

A memorial service will be held 10:30 a.m., Monday, November 22, 2010, at St. Andrews Anglican Church, 8300 Kanis Road.

In lieu of flowers, a trust fund has been established for his daughters. Gifts may be mailed to the McGarrah Children Trust Fund at BancorpSouth, 2500 Cantrell Road, Little Rock, Arkansas 72202.

Linda, there are no words, just hearfelt sympathy and love for you and your family. There is no loss as great,
or sorrow as deep and unforgiving, but there is a way to live in acceptance, and you will find it in time. Our prayers are with you. Love you, Jeanie

It was such a shock to hear of Matt's death. I don't think I've seen him since Anthony School graduation and fondly remember him on the class trip to New Orleans.

You were such a 'proactive' mom and I know you must be a wonderful grandmother.

My thoughts and prayers are with you - I know this is such a great loss for you and your family.

Maatt, I was shocked and sadded to hear about your passing. My first thought was how hard this must be for Lily,Emma, and Abby, those little girls loved their Daddy and everyone around could tell how much you loved your girls. My second thought was about Lala(your mother). My prayers go out to your family and to Courtny who has to have the strength to try and heal her three little girls broken hearts. It won't be easy and won't happen over night but each day it will get easier. Just remember all the wonderful memories you guys had with Matt and share them with the girls and let them know its ok to laugh and cry. May God wrap his arms around your entire family as they deal with your passing. Angels are only here for a certain time and then they have to go back home....Matt was truly an angel.
