Geri Lynn Cheatham

of Little Rock, AR

May 8, 1975 - November 21, 2006

Geri Lynn (Wilson) Cheatham, age 31, of Ferndale unexpectedly departed this life on November 21, 2006 after collapsing for unknown reasons. Geri was born in Metairie, Louisiana, to Willie Gerald "Jerry" Wilson and Linda Ruth (Chevalley) Wilson of Harahan, Louisiana. Geri began grade school at three years old and participated in the Gifted & Talented programs throughout her preparatory school years. During that time, she also was an accomplished ballerina completing nine years with The Delta Festival Ballet Company, as well as, performed in the city theater in several productions. She was a graduate of Bonnabel High School (Metairie, Louisiana) Class of 1992 at age 16. During and after high school, she enjoyed a short career in modeling and went on to attend Loyola University and Louisiana Tech University where she was active in the AFROTC and Angel Flight (USAF support sorority). During her Tech enrollment, she met an Air Force Pilot and her future husband, Captain Charles A. "Ghost" Cheatham.

After college, she worked in management for the Things Remembered retail outlet in the Greater New Orleans area. After a four-year courtship and eventual marriage, Mrs. Cheatham moved to Little Rock in 1998 where she began assisting with family-owned businesses; a local livery (transportation) company, and a real estate investment business. In 2001, Geri was named General Manager of Southern Limousine, LLC, as well as the primary Residential Real Estate Property Manager for Silverbrook Investors, LLP that same year.

Geri was a member of the Pleasant Valley Church of Christ in Little Rock. She was an active member of her congregation serving over the years as a children's bible class teacher and Vacation Bible School leader. She participated regularly in various bible study groups and was also co-chairman of one of the local "Bunco" ministries. Over the years, Mrs. Cheatham, both personally and through her business relationships, was very passionate about numerous charities such as Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA), Make a Wish Foundation, The Delta Chi Education Foundation, The "V" Foundation (Cancer research), and the Lyon College Scottish Heritage Program. Additionally, she was an avid and frequent recreational traveler both domestic and internationally. Other hobbits/interests included "speed" reading, movie marathons, any football, the arts, the theatre, writing, interior design, Celtic & Confederate heritage, and most of all, spending time with her family.

To celebrate her life, Geri Lynn Cheatham leaves many to cherish her memory. She is survived by her devoted husband, Charles A. "Ghost" Cheatham, of Little Rock, and their three young sons, Nathan Liam Alexander (8), Charles Anthony Aidan (6), and Andrew Francis Parker (4); a mother and father, Willie Gerald "Jerry " Wilson and Linda Ruth (Chevalley) Wilson of Harahan, and her twin brothers, Evan Wilson, of Harahan, Louisiana, and Bryan Wilson, of New York City, New York.

Visitation began Thanksgiving Day, 2006, and will continue through Saturday, November 25, 2006. Funeral Services are entrusted to Roller-Chenal Funeral Home. A public memorial will be conducted at Pleasant Valley Church of Christ, Sunday, 2:00 P.M., Nick Hamilton and Chuck Monan presiding, followed by a graveside ceremony at Riverwood Memorial Gardens in Maumelle.

For all inquiries, contact family spokesman, Tim Parker, at (318)265-0971.

Geri, I can’t believe it’s been almost 20 years since you left. Every year around this time I start to feel a nagging, nameless melancholy that I can’t put my finger on. Eventually it dawns on me that it’s the anniversary of your passing, and I feel it all over again. Words can’t express how much I miss you…we all do. I think of all that’s happened since, and all the things I wish you could have experienced. What would it be like if I still had a sister If your boys got to know you in adulthood The sting of never knowing will linger; it’s a bittersweet reminder that I had a sister who I love very much.
Love, Bryan

I have known "Ghost" as we always called him, for some time now. He has been a very loyal supporter of the Huckabee's and we both rejoiced at the union of he and his beautiful wife Geri Lynn. Now we grieve with him as he gives up a very prized possession, his lovely wife, back to the creator that we all love. Our prayers are with you Ghost and we are truly sorry for your loss. Governor and First Lady Mike and Janet Huckabee and family.

Geri was my cousin. Being somewhat older and living up north, I didn't have the chance to know her well as she grew up. However, circumstances allowed us to come together a few times over the past couple of years. I was fortunate to have the chance to get to know someone who had become a neat, neat lady. Geri will certainly be missed. Please accept heartfelt condolences from our entire family. Ghost, Jerry, Linda and boys - we are thinking of and praying for all of you. Ghost, We are so sorry for your and your precious boys' loss. We can't even begin to imagine what you must be going through right now. It was such a treat to get to visit with Geri at Crawfish Boil every May, and also to see those beautiful children. I don't think I ever heard an unkind thing coming out of Geri's mouth. Through the sadness, I am so glad to know that she is with her heavenly father now. You and your family are in our prayers. Alexis and Eric Appleton

Although our family connection was not direct (my father and her mother were cousins of some degree on the Thompson side), I very much enjoyed knowing her as a young lady and regret that our paths diverged in her adult years. Her family adored her and vice versa. I know she is catching up on the news with Aunt Madeline! Our hearts go out to her husband and children, and to Linda, Jerry and her brothers.
