Geri, I can’t believe it’s been almost 20 years since you left. Every year around this time I start to feel a nagging, nameless melancholy that I can’t put my finger on. Eventually it dawns on me that it’s the anniversary of your passing, and I feel it all over again. Words can’t express how much I miss you…we all do. I think of all that’s happened since, and all the things I wish you could have experienced. What would it be like if I still had a sister If your boys got to know you in adulthood The sting of never knowing will linger; it’s a bittersweet reminder that I had a sister who I love very much.

Geri was my cousin. Being somewhat older and living up north, I didn't have the chance to know her well as she grew up. However, circumstances allowed us to come together a few times over the past couple of years. I was fortunate to have the chance to get to know someone who had become a neat, neat lady. I was very saddened to hear of Geri Lynn's death. I remember her as a vibrant young girl and wonderful dancer. Although our family connection was not direct (my father and her mother were cousins of some degree on the Thompson side), I very much enjoyed knowing her as a young lady and regret that our paths diverged in her adult years.
