Robert Bruce Hallmark, Sr., age 85, of Little Rock died Monday, June 28, 2004. He was born on August 30, 1918 in Haskell, Texas, the son of Robert Nixon Hallmark and Blanche Clift Hallmark. He grew up in Haskell, Texas and Erick, Oklahoma.
He graduated from high school in Erick, Oklahoma, and received his Bachelor of Science degree from Oklahoma A&M (now Oklahoma Sate) at Stillwater and his Master's degree in Animal Science from the University of Kentucky at Lexington. He was a member of Farmhouse Fraternity in Stillwater and Alpha Zeta Honorary Fraternity.
After college, he served in the United States Army during World War II, and met and married his wife Nora Lee Lloyd on February 14, 1945 while stationed in San Antonio, Texas. He was discharged from active duty in the Army with the rank of Captain, and retired from the Army Reserves as a Lt.Col.
From 1952 until he retired in 1979, he worked for the University of Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service in Little Rock. Previously he taught at Martin Tennessee Junior College and Arkansas State University at Jonesboro. He also was an Assistant Professor of Animal Science for 5 years at the University of Connecticut in Storrs.
He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church and the Caleb Sunday School class, and previously had been a member and served as a deacon and elder at Pulaski Heights Presbyterian Church.
A loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother, Robert is survived by his wife of 59 years, Nora Lee Lloyd Hallmark; daughter Linda Hallmark Jarman and husband Richard C. Jarman of Centreville, Virginia; son Robert B. Hallmark, Jr. and wife Sharon McGee Hallmark and grandchildren Robert B. Hallmark, III, Wesley Byron Hallmark and Elisabeth Anne Hallmark, all of Little Rock; and a sister, Mayrene Elizabeth Hallmark Slack and niece Terri Slack Hargett of Ithaca, New York.
Visitation will be from 6:00 until 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 1 at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home on Chenal Parkway and funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 2 at Immanuel Baptist Church on Shackleford Road in Little Rock. Burial will follow at Rest Hills Cemetery in North Little Rock.

Linda, I'm so sorry to hear about your dad. I know how it feels to lose a parent. No matter how prepared you think you are, it's always a shock. Both of my parents are gone now; mother in 1994 and daddy in 2000. They're both well again and not suffering any more. Take faith in that with your dad, he's well, whole and at peace.
