Peggy Lorraine Corley McDowell, age 70, of Marble Falls, Arkansas, passed away Tuesday, January 29, 2019, at her home. She was born February 19, 1948, in Saint Anthony, Idaho, the daughter of Harry and Mary (Griggs) Bolles. Along with her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by her sister, Kathy Schaeffer.
Peggy was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She married Ken McDowell June 16, 1990. She was a graduate of Westwood High School in Memphis and graduated nursing school at Helena, Arkansas. She was a licensed medical technician and then went on to get her registered nursing degree and was also a CCRN.
Peggy's nursing career included specialties in ICU, CCU, Pediatric Intensive Care, Emergency Room, floor nurse and doctor's nurse. She was a traveling nurse at Native American reservations' hospitals and clinics in Arizona, Washington, and Alaska. She worked at the Newton County Health Unit as County Nurse Administrator. Peggy wrote the grant to build the current Newton County Health Unit. She was a founding member for the Basin Valley Water Association. She enjoyed reading, flowers and watching the beautiful birds that came to her feeders. Peggy had a special love for her Arabian horses, Jersey cows and all other types of dogs and cats.
Peggy is survived by her husband, Kenneth McDowell, of the home; her children and their spouses, John and Lisa Corley, Michael and Leslie Corley, Hunter and Rylee McDowell, Summer Potter, and Hilary and Donovan Cleaver; thirteen grandchildren; her sister and brother-in-law, Patty and Darrall Brown and their family; her brother and sister-in-law, Vaughn and Cathy Bolles and their family; and a host of other family and friends.
Visitation was Saturday, February 2, 2019, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on Valley View Church Road in Harrison; with funeral service to following with Barry Johnson officiating.
Honorary pallbearers were Burton "Skip" Cluff, John Corley, Michael Corley, Hunter McDowell and Donovan Cleaver.
