Freda (Simpson) Provence, 83, of Batesville died Friday, September 8, 2017.
Born December 5, 1933, in Portland, Tennessee, she was the daughter of Frank James Simpson and Addie Mae (Keene) Simpson.
Freda was a homemaker and seamstress. She was a longtime member of the Independence County Extension Homemakers Club, served on the Independence County Fair Board and Help and Hope. She enjoyed having family dinners on Thursday with her family. She was a very active member of the Pleasant Valley Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include her sons, Ronald Provence and wife, Cheri of Oxford, Mississippi; Donald Provence and wife, Denise; Keith Provence and wife, Nina; and Tommy Wammack and wife, Christine, all of Batesville; five grandchildren, Christopher Provence and wife, Mary; Nicholas Wammack and wife, Sheri ; Laura Tull and husband Matthew; Jeremy Aldrich; and Ashley Neill and husband Peyton; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Louise Martin of St. Petersburg, Florida.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Roy Glenn Provence.
Visitation will be from 12:00-2:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 12, 2017, at Pleasant Valley Missionary Baptist Church in Batesville. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Ronald Provence and Reggie Walling officiating. Music will be provided by Keith Provence and Glenn Whiteaker.
Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery at Batesville under the direction of Roller-Crouch Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Chris Provence, Nicholas Wammack, Matthew Tull, Kenny Turner, Peyton Neill, and Mark Scott.
Honorary pallbearers are the men of Pleasant Valley Missionary Baptist Church.
Memorials may be made to the Gideons, c/o Pleasant Valley Missionary Baptist Church, 2645 White Drive, Batesville, AR 72501

Ron & Keith, and all of your family....I was so sorry to hear, and then read, of your mother's death. I am praying for each of you, and hoping that His blessings of beautiful memories with be with you all.

So saddened to hear about Freda. I have such good memories of our time together. Walking across the yard visiting, our EH trips, and of course the fair days. She and Roy were such good neighbors to mother and daddy. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
