of Mount Vernon, AR
July 1, 1929 - April 1, 2015
Dorothy Kathleen "Kitty" Harrison, 85, of Mount Vernon, went to be with her Heavenly Father and Lord Jesus Christ on Wednesday, April 1, 2015. She was born July 1, 1929 to the late C.C. "Curley" Keathley and Laura Alice (Malcolm) Keathley of Mount Vernon. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Jesse Cecil "J.C." Harrison; sisters, Flora Bell, Lily Chambers, Noba Elders, Vernell Johnson, Lorene Noggle, and Lucille Walls; brothers, Raymond S. Keathley, Harold E. Keathley, and Roy O. Keathley; sons-in-law, Jim "Moose" Sowards and Ray Kelley.
After Kitty and J.C. married and graduated from Mount Vernon High School, they relocated to Flint, Michigan where she worked for Firestone Tire and Rubber in their accounting department. Her accounting career continued when they returned to Arkansas where she was employed by Hardeman, Fischback, and Moore during the missile base project. It was in 1967 when she made a career change which became her professional lifelong calling and received her real estate license in Indiana. She then opened her first real-estate office in Hammond, Indiana and later in Illinois. For three consecutive years, Kathleen would go on to become the top sales agent of more than 700 agents in the Lake County Board of Realtors and was president of the Women's Council of Realtors for Lake County Board of Realtors for two consecutive years. In 1973 she opened an office in Little Rock while still maintaining the one in Indiana. Through the years, Kathleen successfully owned as many as six real estate companies. She proudly held an active real estate license for 48 years until her passing. Kathleen accomplished all of this while remaining a devoted wife and loving, caring mother.
She is survived by her children, Donna K. Harrison of Dallas, Texas, Dixie Harrison Sowards of Searcy and Ricky Harrison (Ginger) of Mount Vernon; six grandchildren, Jeremy Lasley (Shannon), Adam Harrison, Joshua Harrison, Jessica Harrison, Cliff Harrison (Jenni) and Kendra Hadley; seven great-grandchildren, Peyton Lasley, Jasper Lasley, Dallyn Lasley, Kerston Hadley, Drake Harrison, Corey Wiley and Chloe Hunt and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
