Reverend Al Major, age 90, of West Helena, Arkansas passed away Monday, April 28, 2014 at Wynne, Arkansas. Reverend Major was born March 4, 1924 at Fargo, North Dakota to the late Homer E. Major and the late Glenn Wooten Major.
He is survived by his wife, Sarah Beth Major; a son, Fred Major (Penny); a daughter, Liz Fitzgibbons (William); grandchildren, Tristan Major, Jeremy Major and Anna Meagan; great-grandchild, Logan Meagan; and a sister, Kathryn Baker.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services for Reverend Al Major will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, May 1, 2014 at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Park in West Helena. Brother Cliff Bernard will officiate.
Pallbearers are Cecil Turner, Sam King, Bill Carter, Lucien Webster, Kenneth Parker and Johnny McKenzie. Honorary pallbearers are his Sunday School Class.
Memorials may be made to the International Mission Board, S.B.C., P.O. Box 6767, Richmond, Virginia.
Services will be directed by Roller-Citizens Funeral Home, West Helena, (870) 572-2571.

Mrs. Beth, I have so many wonderful memories of you and Bro. Al. It meant so much for him to marry Al and I and the whole family was ecstatic when you came to Italy to our church. Bro. Al was one in a million and he touched so many lives. I will have you in my prayers and thoughts. Love from the Herrington Bunch!

Ms. Beth, you are in our thoughts and prayers. Bro. Al was a very special man of God and used by Him in many lives throughout his years. I pray God's peace and comfort for you.

Sorry to hear of the loss of Bro. Al. He will always be remembered by his love for kids and "Fluffy". Always enjoyed this when he did it with the children. They were always attentive and he got the message across to them so they could understand.

Our sympathy goes to all of Mr. Al's family & friends. We have a paitning in our house that our aunt had him to paint for our 25th wedding anniversary.

Beth, We just want you to know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. We have such fond memories of Bro. Al. He was certainly one of God's chosen people, had such a wonderful personality. My fondest memories were of Bro. Al and "Fluffy", they always got their mesage across!! We love you.....

"Well done, good and faithful servant." is what Bro. Al heard when he woke up "in the Land of Glory". Our loss is Heaven's gain. So thankful to have known him and you, Mrs. Beth. What a blessing you have been to so many of us here in Phillips county.

May God continue to bless this family! Bro. Al will be missed. He was a true disciple of Christ and has entered Glory!

I am so sorry. I feel fortunate to have know Bro. Al. Thankful that he is ,no longer in pain,but is in heaven telling funny stories and joking with those friends that have gone before.. Beth, do not be concernednwith Peppi nI will be there until you can be .
