Joseph Wayne "Cookie" Gilchrist, 67, of Hot Springs, Arkansas passed away peacefully at home Tuesday, March 4, 2014. He was born on July 30, 1946 to Ernestine Shultz Gilchrist and Joe Gilchrist. Wayne retired from Barrett Hamilton. He loved his family and his job. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and bowling, and he attended Grace Point Baptist Church in Cordova, Tennessee.
He is survived by his loving wife of 14 years, Loretta Gilchrist; mother, Ernestine Bruno; two sons, Ronnie Wayne Gilchrist of Virginia and James D. Torrey (Debbie) of Washington; three daughters: Hillary Rudkin (Chris) of Arkansas, Pam Hawley of Tennessee, and Melanie Byrum of Arkansas; fifteen grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and three brothers: Gio Bruno (Marie), Jay Bruno (Lisa), and Vince Bruno - all of Arkansas. He is preceded in death by his father, Joe Gilchrist, and step-father, Jimmy Bruno.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M., Monday, March 10, 2014 in the Chapel of Roller-Chenal Funeral Home, 13801 Chenal Parkway, Little Rock, AR 72211, Phone: (501)224-8300. Graveside service will follow at 1:00 P.M. at Crestview Cemetery in Hot Springs. Visitation will be from 2:00-4:00 P.M., Sunday, March 9, 2014 at the Funeral Home.
