Earl J. Thacker, age 84, of Clarkridge, Arkansas, passed away Sunday, August 18, 2013, in Mountain Home.
He was born November 19, 1928, in Mountain Home, Arkansas, to Bernie Earl and Edna Florence Beaver Thacker. A veteran of the Korean War, Mr. Thacker retired from the U.S. Army with the rank of Staff Sergeant after more than 20 years of service. While in the Army he served as a bartender in the Officer's Club. He was also a farmer and enjoyed gardening, hunting and fishing.
Mr. Thacker is survived by a son: Zane (and wife Judy) Thacker: Mountain Home; two daughters: Carol (and husband Wilson) Quiles: Mountain Home; and Angel (and husband Greg) Steffey: Orlando, Florida; seven grandchildren: Tim, Jeremy, Tammy Lyn, Madison, Raven, Josh and William; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife Gladys Whillock Thacker; second wife: Ruby Sutherland Thacker; brother: Edgar Thacker and his lifetime companion Nancy Jo Brodd.
Visitation will be from Noon-9:00 P.M. Thursday, August 22, 2013 at Roller Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 6:00-8:00 P.M. Funeral Services will be 10:00 A.M. Friday in the Roller Chapel with Brother Tony DeWeese officiating. Interment will follow in Thacker Cemetery with military honors by the U.S. Army and a color guard provided by Ozark V.F.W. Post #3246. Memorials may be made to the Thacker Cemetery Fund, c/o First Integrity Bank.

Zane, Sorry to hear of your dad passing. I only met him a few times and he was a great guy. Thinking of you during this difficult time!
