David Ray Altom, 66 went to be with our Lord on May 22, 2013. He was born on May 18, 1947 in Heber Springs to Arlie and Erma Lee Hynds Altom.
He was preceded on death by his Father Arlie Altom and a niece Tracy Melinda Holloway and a nephew Brian David Stephenson.
He is survived by his mother Erma Lee Altom, a sister Donna Vinson (Frank) all of Judsonia, a brother Danny Joe Altom (Pat), 2 nieces April Altom and Shelly all of Fargo, Arkansas, several great and great-great nieces and Nephews. He was of the Baptist Faith.
He was known for being a great musician and he played all over the state of Arkansas and Louisiana. He played at the Tommy Trent Fun Barn and he was a star on the Mountain Music Jamboree in Hot Springs, Arkansas. He toured on many bus Trips entertaining his biggest fans the Kensett Blue Devils.
Our deepest sympathy to all the Alton family. Jan Parnell Swinney is a first cousin to Patsy Swinney Alton. Our prayers are with each of you in this sad time. May you feel God's loving arms wrapped around you now and in the days ahead.
What a joy to have known you as a musician and a special friend. I'm gonna miss our lengthy phone conversations at all hours of the day or nite! R I P my dear friend... until we meet again...

David will be greatly missed by his friends in Hot Springs. The last time that I got to see David was when Tracy Byrd played at the college in Searcy 14 years ago. He came to see Scott Coney, one of his playing buddies. R.I.P. my friend.

Been so many years, but David left a mark on music around Hot Springs that will live long beyond our years. He's off to pick and grin with the finest....David shall have a fine journey and may his family realize how many lives how many lives David touched in his few years here on earth.
