Roger D. Vowell, Sr., 69, formerly of Earle, Arkansas died Saturday. Mr. Vowell was born on January 23, 1944 to the late Ward and Verma Vowell. He retired after 33 years as an inspector for the Corp of Engineers. He spent all of his free time with his grandchildren. He was an avid fisherman and razorback fan.
He is survived by his wife, Patty Vowell of Hernando, MS; son, Roger D. Vowell Jr. (Dena) of Highland Village, TX; daughter, Daphne V. Cox (Bryan) of Hernando, MS; grandchildren, Chandler Vowell, Parker Vowell, Madison Cox and Matthew Cox; and sisters, Dorothy Zirkle of West Memphis, AR and Laquita Smith of Earle, AR; Mother In-Law Flora Mae Edwards of Hernando, MS.
Visitation will be from 6 until 8 PM Tuesday at Roller Citizens Funeral Home in West Memphis, AR. The funeral service will be at 11 AM Wednesday at the funeral home with Brother Kelly Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Crittenden Memorial Park.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the American Heart Association.
