Marlin Greenfield, 91, of Batesville, died Sunday, October 21, 2012 at his home.
He was born on December 22, 1920 in Batesville and was the son of Eugene and Ella (Thomas) Greenfield. He worked as a lineman for 37 years for A P & L and was a charter member and served as deacon of First Freewill Baptist Church.
He was a U. S. Army veteran serving during World War II and received the Purple Heart, the Bronze Star and several other medals. Marlin was a loving and generous person who loved playing with his grandchildren. He was a quiet man who worked very hard, walked daily, and was always willing to help anyone. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and especially visits from friends. He was a very kind and wonderful man and will be missed by his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, of 68 years, Mona V. (Finister) Greenfield of the home; daughters: Carolyn Adkisson and her husband, Jackie, and Mary Marlene Greenfield, all of Batesville; two grandchildren: Terry Adkisson of Newark and Teresa Vinson of Batesville; four great-grandchildren: Matthew Adkisson, Joshua Adkisson, Jennifer Adkisson and Haley Vinson; four brothers: T. N. Greenfield and Eugene Greenfield, both of Batesville, J. R. Greenfield of Wichita, KS and George Greenfield of Springfield, MO; two sisters, Louella Bohanan of Wichita and Betty Myers of Batesville; a son-in-law, Charles Traw; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, JoAnne Traw; four sisters: Gladys Eula Marshall, Lois Thrush, Marie Thomas, and Earline Greenfield; and one brother, Paul Greenfield.
Pallbearers will be John Clements, Ronnie Ruminer, Lonnie Shrum, Roy Thomas, Tony Greenfield, and Gary Greenfield. Honorary pallbearers are Allen Greenfield, Danny Greenfield, Vaughn Ruminer, Fred Jones, Lynn Bachman, Terry Adkisson, Teresa Vinson, Haley Vinson, Jennifer Adkisson, Josh Adkisson, and Matthew Adkisson.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the Roller-Crouch Chapel with Bro. Ben Ryan and Bro. Hoover Lewis officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Valley Cemetery under the direction of Roller-Crouch Funeral Home of Batesville.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
