Earl Lester Smith, age 96, of Shirley, AR went to be with his LORD and Savior Saturday, March 17, 2012. He was born in Unionville, Iowa on December 5, 1915.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George Washington Smith and Clementine May Smith; brothers, Ernest, Faye, Edsel and Milo Smith: sisters, Zelma, Ina and Hazel and his first wife of 59 years, Maudie June Osborne Smith.

Earl is survived by his wife, Myrtle Hightshoe Smith; his daughter, Betty Gaston; grandchildren Christy Lester (Michael), Kirk Gaston (Amy); great grandchildren, Nicholas Lester (Leann), Lindsey Phillips (Mike), Kyle Gaston, Kody Gaston (Jessica); great great grandchildren Austin Weaver, Michael Weaver, Daniel Lester, Gabriel Gaston, Rochelle Gaston; step children, Cathy Baschke (Bill), Joyce Berry (Rick), Danny Hightshoe (Barb), Kristy Pruitt (Ken); Nine step grandchildren, 8 great step grandchildren, and 2 great great step grand children.

He retired from John Deere Co. in Ottumwa, Iowa and was a member of the Fairfield Bay Baptist Church. Earl was a taxidermist after his retirement and loved gardening, boating, fishing, and his cameras were along for every event. Music was an important part of his life, playing his mouth harp for the enjoyment of his family.

We will miss you husband, father, grandfather and friend. But we know you are safe in God's arms!

Memorial Service will be 2:00pm Saturday, March 31, 2012 at Fairfield Bay Baptist Church.
