Irene Carolyn Laymon, age 84, of Marshall, Arkansas passed from this life on Sunday, February 19, 2012 at Conway Regional Medical Center in Conway, Arkansas. She was born in Searcy County, Arkansas on November 30, 1927 to Ras Tilley and Eunice (Warren) Tilley.
Carolyn was a member of the First Christian Church in Marshall, Arkansas. In her younger days, Carolyn loved listening to the old radio stories. She never learned to drive but always enjoyed her daily walk to the post office from her home on East Main Street and visiting with friends she met while downtown. In later years, she really enjoyed reading, especially the local newspaper and the Little Rock paper, also listening to the Razorback games on the radio. Carolyn loved talking on the phone to friends and family, especially her sister Bonnie Caldwell. Family and friends were of great importance to Carolyn and she was so very proud of all their accomplishments.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Hershel Cotton and John Laymon; one sister, Betty Watts and husband Doyle; one half sister, Joanne Hooper; and one half brother, Bill Tilley.
Survivors include two sons, Larry Charles Cotton and Danny Laymon and wife Loretta, both of Marshall; four grandchildren Brandon Laymon, Amanda Johnson and husband Zachery, Matthew Cotton and Nathaniel Cotton; seven great grandchildren, Hope Johnson, Meagan Weaver, Mackenzie Cotton, Alexis Cotton, Anthony Cotton, Jordan Pinson and husband Matt and Taylor Glen; two great-great grandchildren, Peyton Pinson and Austin Glen; one sister, Bonnie Caldwell and husband Vernon of Republic, OH; two half brothers, Jim Tilley and Danny Tilley; and a host of other friends and family who will also mourn her passing.
Arrangements are by Roller-Coffman Funeral Home in Marshall, Arkansas.
Graveside services will be 3:00 PM Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at Marshall Cemetery in Marshall, Arkansas with Bro. Jim Arnold Jr. officiating.
Pallbearers will be Matthew Cotton, Nathaniel Cotton, Ben Hall, Donnie Watts, James L. Horton and Ben Treat.
Honorary pallbearers will be Brandon Laymon, Charles Caldwell, Bernard Cranford Jr., Tim Cranford and John Marion Cranford.
So sorry for your loss. I always enjoyed visiting with Carolyn. She was a great lady.
