Philip J Pinter, 95, of Conway, died Sept. 22, 2011. Born in Morrilton, Jan. 23, 1916, he was the son of Peter Pinter and Anna Hoelzeman Pinter. He attended Sacred Heart School in Morrilton and graduated from Catholic High in Little Rock. He served in the US Army during WWII, attaining the rank of captain.
He earned a BS('55) and a MSE in history('65) from Arkansas State Teachers College (UCA).
Philip was married to Marie Hiegel on May 9, 1950. He was retired after varied careers in sales, education, investment, and real estate. A lifelong communicant of the Catholic Church, he was a Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus, and an usher for many years at the church.
He was preceded in death by his son, Louis Pinter, and three brothers, Joe, John, and Carl Pinter, and two sisters Agnes Stevenson and Marie Millard. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Marie; son, Alan (Lei) Pinter of Conway; daughters, Sara (Charles) Proctor of Hazen, and Melanie (Gary) Holland of Marche; three brothers, Henry Pinter of Napa Valley, CA; Nick Pinter of Memphis, TN; Ben Pinter of Morrilton; one sister, Helen Nabholz of Conway; and seven grandchildren: John, Jake, Christen, James, Cara, Chad and Eric.
A memorial mass will be at 1pm, Saturday, Sept 24 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Conway with Father Warren Harvey officiating. Rosary will be at 5pm, Friday, Sept 23 in the St. Joseph Chapel, followed by visitation.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church.
