James David Burks, 62, of Lonsdale died April 24, 2010 at National Park Medical Center in Hot Springs. He was born on June 29, 1947 in Hot Springs to James W. and Royce Lee Roach Burks. Mr. Burks was a member of the Smith Creek Landmark Missionary Baptist Church and was a Tool and Die machinist. His father James W. Burks, father-in-law, Morris Burks, mother-in-law, Dorothy Phillips Burks, and brother-in-law, James Coleman preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife, Sherry Ellaine Burks of Lonsdale; one daughter, Krystal Ann Hoople and husband Paul of Lonsdale; one son, Darrell Dewayne James and wife Marie of El Dorado; mother, Royce Lee Roach of Lonsdale; three sisters, Mary Lee Crowder and husband Luke of Bryant, Wanda Kay Coleman of Hot Springs, and Loretta Ann Hefley and husband Larry of Lonsdale; one brother, Paul Richard Burks of Lonsdale; one brother-in-law, Terrell Burks and wife Michelle of Bauxite; mother-in-law, Juanita Burks of Haskell; six grandchildren, Maygan, Beau, and Gordon Hoople and Brittany, Chelsea, and Dara James, one great grandchild, and numerous other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be Tuesday April 27, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Roller-Ballard Funeral Home (315-4047) with interment in Smith Creek Cemetery in Lonsdale. Serving as pallbearers are members of the Fountain Lake Class of '65 and '66; Robert Goodeaux, Nelson Pittman, Fred Dixon, Jimmy Attebury, Larry Payne, and Jerry Vaughn. Lance Ragsdale and Ernest Holland will serve as alternates.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday April 26, 2010 at the funeral home.
The family would like to express their appreciation to Ruby, Jean, Glenda, Candice, Quin, and the 2nd floor nursing staff of National Park Medical Center and to the staff of Odyssey Healthcare for the loving care shown to David during his illness.

I always respected you and David for being there every time my dad was in the hospital.You and David away made time for your family.I always like David and the video brought tears in my eyes and I just can't stop.He will be dearly missed by your side when I see you.If you every need me for anything let me know.

We were a part of David's Precision family. He was a great man and a pleasure to work with. Always had a smile on his face. He always had a story about nascar and going to Talladega. He will truly be missed. May God bless and keep you guys close. Our thoughts and prayers are with the entire family. David is an Angel on the shoulders of his loved ones.

David, was in my crew in the potrooms of the old RMC at Jones Mills in the 80's. I really liked working with David. His father was the instructor who showed me how to run the overhead hot metal crane. I am so sad to read of these news.
