of Maumelle, AR
August 16, 1972 - November 1, 2009
Timothy Scott Hoffman, Sr, 37, of Little Rock, was surrounded by his loving family when he departed this life, Sunday, November 1, 2009. He was born August 16, 1972, to Donna (Peterson) and Jimmy Waddle. He is survived by his wife Kelly Holman Hoffman.
He was preceded in death by his father, his grandfather, Leon Scott Hoffman, and his uncle, Gary Waddle. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, son Timothy Scott Hoffman, Jr., stepdaughter Tayler Albillar, African Grey parrot Yoda, Cocker Spaniel Princess Leia, his mother and stepfather Donna and Daniel Peterson, sisters Darcie Harvell and Reggie Angel, brothers Kyle Harvell and Marc Peterson, grandparents Jean Hoffman and Mel and Jean Waddle, aunts Jeanie (Jay) Barron, Debbie (Steve) Bates, cousins, Chris (Lisa) McCants, Lauren McCants, John (Connie) Barron, Tom (Holly) Barron, Patrick (Sharon) Barron and a host of loving family and friends.
A life long resident of Little Rock, he attended Little Rock Public Schools and graduated from Hall High School in 1990. He attended computer schools which lead to his career as a computer engineer at Alltel (Verizon) Communications.
Tim was a Star Wars and Star Trek fan and enjoyed making and wearing Star Wars' character costumes at Halloween. He had a passion for fast cars, restoring vintage Arcade games, loved both Christian music and Metallica.
Tim will always be remembered for his strong character, abiding Christian faith, deep loyalties, and love of family and friends. Although his life was cut short, his optimism and courage touched countless lives.
Diagnosed with glioblastoma (deadliest form of brain cancer) in 2007, he bravely endured four craniotomies, radiation, and rounds of chemotherapy. He sought help at cancer centers in Little Rock, Maryland and Texas, and, even though each time the outcome was met with disappointment, he and his family never lost faith that he would recover or that God would give them the strength to live by His will.
Please pray that we will be granted strength to be as brave as Tim was throughout his illness. Even in the darkness of our grief, we are comforted by the memory of Tim's testimony to his Men's church group, in which he inspired so many with his abiding faith in God's will. One of the gifts of his legacy was that we should live each day to the fullest and never pass an opportunity to reach out to each other and express our love. In the words of his son, "We shouldn't be sad. Dad is in heaven, where he will live forever and there aren't any brain tumors".
The family wishes to express their appreciation for the care and support of Professor Gazi and Dianne Yasargil, their team, and the nurses at UAMS for their kindness and tender care of Tim and his family.
Pallbearers will be Jim Keys, Ron Jennings, Derrick Hodges, Brandon Hodges, Chris Sebelius, and Shannon Holman.
The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, November 8, 2009, at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home, 13801 Chenal Parkway, Little Rock (501-224-8300). Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, November 9, 2009, at New Life Church, 10910 Maumelle Blvd, Maumelle. Interment will follow at Riverwood Memorial Gardens, Maumelle.
Memorials may be made to the National Brain Tumor Society at www.braintumor.org/Donate/
There is not a breath I take that I don't think of you. You should be here to see the sunrise, sunset, the glistening snow, to smell flowers, hear birds sing, kiss your wife, hold your son......hug your Mom! The pain is still raw, unbearable at times....but I close my eyes, see you, remember you, and know that some day we'll all be together again. I love you, my son.
Christmas was just not the same without you. We love you and miss you so much! xoxo
Tonight we were singing Christmas carols. When we started singing "Silent Night," I was slammed with the memory of singing to you when you were a baby. I didn't know enough words of any 1970s songs but I did know Christmas carols...so these I sang to you as I rocked you to sleep...it didn't matter what month it was...September or February...it was just you and me and my squawky voice...rocking you to sleep. I love you so much and miss you something fierce. Neaner and I are trying to take good care of your precious Kelly and Little Timothy. I love them so much. You would be so proud of them...they miss you painfully much but are so brave. We know you are always with us. I love you, From Momma (December 17, 2009)
Donna,
You and your family are in my prayers. I am so sorry I did not learn about Timothy passing away until yesterday in the St. James newsletter. I would have been at the service. I hope you know Vaughn and I are thinking of you.
Expressing our deepest sympathy to Kelly and the greiving families. From everyone in DATA CENTER OPERATIONS. We will continue to pray for you.
I was deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Mr. Hoffman. As a firefighter for the City of Maumelle, I made several medical runs on Mr. Hoffman. I would like to take this time to tell you that these runs have been a bigger influence on me than any other in my career. I have never met anyone facing so many challenges that had such a positive outlook on life. Although I changed districts to the North side and had not made a run to your house in several months, I will never forget my last run there. As we were wheeling him out of the bedroom, he was clutching his Bible and telling me when he got better, I had to come over and play video games with him. We always talked about Star Wars and video games. Please take comfort in knowing that he performed one of God's greatest blessings. He made an impact on my life and career that I will never forget. Once again, I give my condolences. I think God for having the opportunity to have met Mr. Hoffman.

You'all are in my prayers at this sad time in your life. When we ask God to give us strength and courage, the answers come from all around and from people and places we don't always expect. In the days ahead when you have time to sit back and contemplate the past 3 years, through your tears you will know and feel His great love. You may think your broken heart will never mend--it might not--but it will get better with time. I am so sorry for your loss. Nola B.
My thoughts and prayers continue for your family. Tim fought a brave and inspiring battle and I know he is enjoying God's kingdom.
Kelly, I'm sorry to hear that Tim has passed on. I remember him as a fun guy full of life. You and your family are in my thoughts.

Tim was our treasure from the day of his birth, as he grew in the beauty of his body and spirit, and as faith deepened and strenthened his life and actions. Finally, we treasured him in his suffering and courageous fight against the cancer that disabled his body, but not his soul. Cancer took his life, but his legacy and our memories live on. Tim, you are whole now and healed from the pain of your life on earth. You will always be in our hearts. Your loving aunt, Neaner.
This world will miss Tim. I thank our Lord, Tim and Kelly for having shared a piece of their lives with us. With deepest sympathy. Kim, Pam & Morgan
To Timothy's family and friends-
I am SO sorry for your loss. Timothy was my best friend for a period of time, starting in 1980 when we played t-ball together at Penick Boys Club. I am happy to share that I watched "The Empire Strikes Back" with him at the Cinema 150 and share the same love for Star Wars that he did. We didn't go to junior high or high school together, and we hadn't talked in some time. Thanks to the power of Facebook, we were able to reconnect earlier this year, and talked for a bit. I treasure the fact that we were able to talk, albeit briefly, but I am glad to know that Timothy was the same great person that I knew from way back when. He will be missed.
Kelly,
As I watched Tim through his battle, what a truly inspiring and courageous person I found who touched many. He was always upbeat, and with a smile when we saw him. He will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and working with him. I take comfort in knowing that this is not goodbye, but until we meet again in God's great kingdom.
Kelly and family,
Just want you to know that you and your family are in our thoughts and prayers.
Love,
Jo Ann & family
Kelly, Timothy, Donna and Family: Tim was always a great, funny, happy, and honorable man. I could not have picked a better person to be my son-in-law. He has been faithful, positive, and fought so hard the past two years. He was devoted to Kelly and such an outstanding father. I will truly miss Tim as a friend, geek buddy, and as a positive influence on our entire family.
Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers from so many people. We are blessed and appreciate all of the support from so many fine people, especially the New Life Church Family. Please continue to keep Kelly, Timothy, Tayler, Donna, and all the family in your prayers.
Kelly,
Tim was a great friend and I enjoyed working with him. He will be truly missed. Tim had a great impact on many peoples lives. I believe that now he is being recieved into heaven and our Lord and Savior is greeting him with these words: "Well done my good and faithful servant, Welcome Home."
Kelly -
My prayers are with you and the family. Tim will be greatly missed by all who knew him and had the pleasure of working with him.
Donna, Kelly and family. My thoughts have been with you both since we visited last week. I will be out of town and unable to attend the service, but please know that I will be thinking of you and sending love to you all. I am so sorry for your loss.

Dear Kelly & Son, The Hoffman Family, and the Holman Family,
I didn't know Tim, but I've been praying for your family after being told of the battle your family was facing by Dr. Holman.
Heaven holds a great reward to the Child of God. We can't imagine the peace and the comfort that our loved ones are experiencing in that wonderful place. Keep on holding tight to Jesus. He's been with your family from the beginning... and He won't leave you now.
Your in my prayers.
Thinking of you and your family.

Donna and Kelly,
I will be praying for you and your family's strength, allowing God's Precious son Jesus, to help you get through your time of sorrow, especially times like these. I have been there on both sides, losing a son and husband. Everytime your hurt with pain, you call on the Lord! He is the one to help ease the pains and dry your tears. Yes, it is okay to cry, it helps, too.
God Bless you all.

Tim was a very welcome addition to our family. Tim was a very family oriented person and we fell in love with him. Not long after Tim and Kelly married I gave him a hug and told him to take care of my girls for me, I knew I didn't have to worry about them any more becaue Tim would keep them safe. Tim you did a great job of that and I know that you will continue to watch over them and Timothy from heaven. I will watch over them from here on earth. Our family has lost a very important person that we loved and respected greatly.
Deepest Sympathies.
You are all in my thoughts and prayers. Tim was wonderful guy and we will all miss him. Please let me know if there is any thing I can do.
Rhonda
