O B Gladden, age 69 of Heber Springs, Arkansas, formerly of Dyess, Arkansas, died Saturday at his home surrounded by his family. He is a member of the Church of Christ. He retired as owner of Gladden's Grocery after nearly 29 years. He also worked several years for Trojan Luggage Co. and the Osceola Shoe Factory. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Luvenia Gladden; one daughter, Carolyn Gladden of the home, two sons, Barry Gladden and wife Kim of Searcy, David Gladden and wife Gail of Osceola; four grandchildren, Shane Gladden of Searcy, Jamie Gladden of Portland, Oregon, Allyson Feather and husband Koby of Searcy, Blake Gladden of Searcy; one sister, Delores Smith and husband Lynn of Wilson, two brothers, Jerry Gladden and wife Linda of Germantown, Tennessee, Larry Gladden and wife Mary Jane of Glendale, Arizona; and a host of other loving family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Olen B. and Bertha Gladden.

I grew up with O.B. Gladden at Dyess. He was a good manager for our Jr. High Basketball team that won the State Championship in 1955. I remember him as a good friend and a nice person. Please accept my condolences to his family and friends.

We are all so sorry for ya'll lose. OB is going to be missed by all of us! We have alot of memories of him, esp. around Halloween, we will always remember our shaving cream and water balloon fights at the store, He was always out there with us having just as big of time as us! I always think about that around this time of year. He did so much to help all of us when he had the store. We loved him and all of you like our own family, really yall are our family! He will be greatly missed! We were all blessed to know such a caring, yet silly man! Anything ya'll need let us know, we are all here for your family. Sending all our prayers and love to you all!
