I knew Fr. Barry when he was associate pastor at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Pikeville--and counted him as a friend. I just thought about him recently and decided to google him and found this obituary. I am so sorry for the loss--to the family, his congregation, and his colleagues in faith. Eternal rest grant unto them O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

I've just learned of Bishop Burrus' passing. He was a great man. My prayers are with his family. Rest in Christ, Bishop Barry.
For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face; now I know in part, but then I will know fully just as I also have been fully known.

You will be greatly missed my dear Friend Bishop Barry. Thank you for all that you brought to this world. My heart goes out to Jeannie and Hannah I want you to know I am here for you if you need me.
I met Barry at this year's meeting of the Thomas Merton Society. He had a wonderful aura about him. He and his family were welcoming and wonderful. I have made a memorial to Arkansas Hospice.
