Mr. Milburn T. "Pete" Riggins, age 78 of Calico Rock died Wednesday, June 10, 2009 at Community Medical Center. Pete was born September 21, 1930 in Hazard, Kentucky to Milburn and Glyndon (Tipps) Riggins. He married Betty Hudson September 24, 1955 in Calico Rock. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. Pete earned a doctorate degree in education from the University of Missouri and served as a school administrator usually as superintendent for several school districts.
Pete Riggins is survived by his wife Betty Riggins of the home; daughter: Beth (Bob) Jackson of St. Louis, MO; son, Robert (Lise) Riggins of Grapevine, TX; 4 grandchildren: Ashley and Lucas Jackson and Bobby and Alexi Riggins; 1 niece: Lydia Boppre and 1 nephew: Patrick Riggins. He was preceded in death by his parents, and 2 brothers: Ben and Tony.
The family will hold a memorial service at 10:30 AM Saturday at the Calico Rock Cumberland Presbyterian Church with Rev. Wayne Wood and Rev. Glenn Crestor officiating. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Norfork High School Scholarship Fund or White River Healthcare in Calico Rock.
