Homer " Blackie" Gilbert, was born January 17, 1922, to his parents Marvin and Della Wise Gilbert in Clarksville, Arkansas. He died Thursday, December 11, 2008 at his home in Clarksville, Arkansas, at the age of 86. He was a World War II Veteran, member of Oakland Street Full Gospel Church, and retired.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Della Wise Gilbert; wife, Thelma Green Gilbert; brothers, Earl, Charles, John; sisters, Florence, Mary, Ruth, Dorothy, and Pearl.
He leaves behind two sons, Wayne Gilbert and wife, Debbie of Pettigrew, Arkansas, and Gerald Gilbert and wife, Tricia of Fort Smith, Arkansas; 3 daughters, Sue Farmer of Clarksville, Arkansas, Diane Gilbert of Clarksville, Arkansas, and Joan Humphrey and husband, Bob of Clarksville, Arkansas; 12 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great- grandchildren.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Monday at Roller-Cox Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 16, 2008, at Oakland Street Full Gospel Church, Clarksville, Arkansas. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, with Rev. Carl Sory officiating.
Pallbearers: Scott Gilbert, Wayne Gilbert, Robby Humphrey, Jody Humphrey, Jacky Gilbert, Dustin Humphrey.
Honorary Pallbearers: Terry Farmer, Winston May, John Brown, Alan Brown, Doyle Farmer, Bob Humphrey, Jason Liles, Kent Humphrey, Robby Humphrey, Brody Humphrey, Alex Kemp, Steve Johnson, and all men of Oakland Street Full Gospel Church, and Davindry Gilbert.

David & I are sorry to hear of the passing of Blackie. He was such a loving person and was such fun to visit with. To Diane and Joan and family our thoughts and prayers are with you all during this difficult time. It's hard to lose the ones we love so dearly. God Bless and comfort you all.
