Benny Joe Ogilvie, 70, of Batesville died Saturday, August 23, 2008 at White River Medical Center.
He was born in Sharp County, near Cave City on April 17, 1938 and was the son of Garrett and Velma (French) Ogilvie.
Benny's family was the most important thing to him, especially his five grandchildren.
In his younger life, he was a mechanic on a stock car at the Locust Grove race track and really loved NASCAR racing. His favorite driver was Mark Martin. Benny loved to hunt, fish and camp and he also liked talking on his CB radio. He was a truck driver and supervisor for Ideal Bread Company retiring after 40 years of service. He attended Emmanuel Baptist Church.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers Bobby Glenn Ogilvie and Larry Gene Ogilvie.
He is survived by his wife, Genna (Hardin) Ogilvie of the home; one son, Tim Fairchild and his wife, Janice of Batesville; one daughter, Amy Mathews and her husband, Josh also of Batesville; five grandchildren: Ethan Mathews, Alexia Mathews, Lane Mathews, Brennan Mathews and Weston Fairchild; and one brother, Craig Ogilvie and his wife, Sue also of Batesville.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 26 at the Roller-Crouch Chapel with Brother Richard Nuckolls officiating.
Burial will follow the services at Oaklawn Cemetery under the direction of Roller-Crouch Funeral Home of Batesville.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Chris Kelley, Blake Ogilvie, Trinity Smith, Jerry Rutledge, Bobby Merrill and Gerald Sherrill. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Greg Neaville, Dr. David Boike, Dr. Medale, and Elmer Cochran, Jr.

We are sad to learn that Benny has passed on. I remember Benny as a teenager full of life and always smiling. Although I was a lot younger Benny always had time to talk with me and asked about how things was going. He was a good cousin and he will be missed. Our Prayers go out to the family.
