Rhea "Jesse" Gardner, Jr., 72, of Weiner died Saturday, April 12 at his residence. He was a retired carpenter and farmer. He served in the Arkansas National Guard from 1953 to 1957 and earned the sharpshooter medal of honor. He was a charter member of the Weiner Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife Leona Mead Gardner of the home; four sons and their wives, Kenny and Carol, David and Donna, Todd and Daria, and Kyle and Wendy Gardner, all of Weiner; five grandchildren Ryan, Blaine, Kyra, Katy, and Kimberly Gardner; and a great-granddaughter, Lainie Pearl Gardner.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rhea and Mamie Gardner Sr.; and a half sister Lorena Schilly.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 15 at Roller-Farmers Union Chapel in Weiner with Brother Tim Burgess officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery.
Pallbearers will include Kenny, David, Todd, Kyle, Ryan, and Blaine Gardner.
Honorary bearers will include the Adult Sunday School Class at Weiner Christian Church, Bill Summers, Bob Davis, Ronnie Chatman, Booster Scott, and Benny Ritter.
Visitation will be Monday, April 14 from 5:00-8:00 pm at the funeral home in Weiner.

I am so sorry to here of your lose. I think of you often. Over the last 14 years you and your husband have never left my mind. I will keep you in my prayers.

Kenny, Carol, and Ryan, Just want you to know that we are thinking of you during this time. Jordan spoke so much about PePaw and what a sweet person he was. We regret that we never got to meet him. Please tell your mom that we are also keeping her in our thoughts and prayers.
