I just found out TODAY that Dr. Cook passed away 4 months ago. I am so saddened by this news.... like so many of the other stories shared on here, I, too, believe that Dr. Cook saved my life. If it weren't for the surgery he performed on me in 2003, I would not be here today. I missed him so much when he moved to Arkansas ~ but I knew the fishing was good there and that he would be very happy in retirement there. To his family, my deepest sympathy. I am sure you still struggle with this each and every day - just as I do now. God Bless You. And may you rest in peace, Dr. Cook.

Clint, Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Clinton was a wonderful man and will be greatly missed by all. Aunt Ethel, Virginia, Clint and Chris my thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. I pray that God will comfort you and bring peace to your heart. May all the wonderful memories of a son, brother, and dad bring you comfort in the months ahead. Katherine

Dr. Clinton C. Cook, III. Clinton was my cousin and I was so hurt to hear the news about him. I talk with Aunt Ethel by phone daily. You can hear in her voice her love for her son Clinton. Dr. Clinton C. Cook, III. Clinton was my cousin as well as the Doctor that performed my Hysterectomy. I remember he walked in my room after my surgery and said, "Well it's time to start shout'in", and I replied, "Well I can't shout right now", he laughed till he cryed, I remember that like yesterday. I will greatly miss him and I know Aunt Ethel his mother has a great empty spot in her heart for her son, she loved him so much. My prayers and thoughts go out to the Cook family, patients and freinds and all who he touched their life. Sincerely Betty Ann Falin

Dr. Clinton C. Cook, III. Clinton was my cousin who I greatly admired and loved dearly. My heart is so broken for Aunt Ethel his loving mother. Clinton will be greatly missed and never forgotten. Love and Prayers Edith Vincent

Dr. Clinton C. Cook III, was my loving cousin who never had a frown on his face only a wonderful, beautiful smile. You never saw him without a smile on his face. He was a wonderful doctor and will be missed by many. We lift up his loving mother in our prayers Ethel Cook of Coeburn, Virginia for the Lord to give her comfort in this time of saddness. I have to add a story, I remember when Clinton and I were young we were painting his Mom and Dad's pool which was a pretty good size pool. Clinton was painting the deep end and forgot to paint around the drain! I was laughing at him and he said, "Don't worry I think I can get back down to the drain", when he did he slid all the way down in the deep end of the pool and had paint from head to toe. We laughed and laughed about that till our tummies were sore. I have many many memories of Clinton. Loving memories Ethel Saizan Richardson

Dr. Clinton C. Cook, III will be truly missed by his whole family. It is really taking courage to heal from the loss and seeing how it has broken his mother's heart Ethel Cook my Aunt in Virginia. I will treasure all the talks and laughs I had with Clinton. I remember one time specifically when I was a little girl. He was playing his Dad's organ and asked me to sing 'On Top of Ol' Smokey", unfortunately I had a bad studdering problem. I started singing with a studder and he said, "Stop That"!!! He was a medical student at the time and I am sure he learned this in medical school because it worked and I never studdered again. I will remember this my whole life. When Clinton and I talked we always laughed about it. I pray that God gives his loving mother, who always wanted the best for her son, to give her strength through this very saddening time in her life. Clinton will be truly missed. Love and Prayers Dr. David and Kathy Bates

I send deepest sympathy to Clinton's family and friends and this time of such great loss. Those of us in Louisville who were fortunate enough to call him friend are feeling great grief at his death. He was my physician for 28 years, and in 2004 he performed surgery that saved my life. He was a most caring and kind man, and represented the finest ideals that medicine and humanity can offer. There is a big hole in the universe that will never be filled again.

Dr. Cook was such an awesome human being. He truly touched so many lives as a physician and as a friend. I will miss working with him and learning from him. I will keep his family in my thoughts and prayers.

I met Dr. Cook in 2005 at the age of 19. Even though I only knew him a short time, he made a great impact on my life. Without Dr. Cook I am not sure what shape I would be in today. He performed a surgery that he had never performed before in hopes to correct damage that a previous doctor had done through several surgeries. Dr. Cook was able to correct everything through this surgery and I am truly grateful. He called me his miracle patient, but honestly he was the miracle. I hope to find another doctor with the knowledge and skills of Dr. Cook. He truly cares about his patients and I would have never made it through my journey without him. I have symphony for his family and you are in my thoughts and prayers.

To Dr. Cook's Family, I am so shocked and saddened by the loss of Dr. Cook. We go back a long time. His son Chris was in my daughter's pre-school classes for several years. After Dr. Gray retired, I continued with Dr. Cook. He was always so warm and compassionate, giving you all the time you wanted, like you were the only person he needed to see. He made you feel like he was your friend and was always interested in what was going on in your life. I missed him teribly when he moved to AK., but knowing that he was helping other people eased that move. He was one terrific person. He will be missed not only by his family and friends, but by the many patients he helped and definitely by the medical community.

My deepest sympathy to the Cook family. Dr Cook was widely loved and respected here in Louisville and was a good friend to our family. His parents, Clinton and Ethel, were best friends to my parents, Brad and Clarance Henson. I have wonderful memories of the Cook family, who contributed so much to our community and the people who loved them.

Something one does not see or experience very much today is what Dr. Cook had. A direct look into your eyes, seeming to make one feel that they matter, wonderful social skills with patient kindness and a reassuring manner. He will be sorely missed and always remembered as "one in a million ".

Today is July 16 and I still cannot believe that Dr. Cook is no longer on this earth. He was a wonderful, compassionate, and kind, Physician and friend. He was my Doctor since he took Dr. Grays place. When he left Louisville I truly felt that there had been a death in the family...and now there has been, hasn't there? My sympathy to all of the family members and his special friend. I don't know what caused Dr. Cooks death but it took him entirely too soon. Heaven is a sweeter place since July 9th.

I was so sorry to hear about Dr. Cook's passing. Not only was he my Doctor, but he was also a great friend. My parents, Dr. and Mrs. Walter Badenhausen, Jr. and I want to express our deepest sympathy to the whole family. Clinton will remain forever in our hearts and in our prayers. His friends from Austin's Restaurant will miss him greatly...

He was the most compassionate man(doctor) I have ever met. I thank God he came into my life when he did, he saved my life. My family and I will be forever grateful to him. He'll be greatly missed.

Virginia,Royce and Family...My deepest sympathy to all of you. As you know, almost 24 years was spent beside the man I considered the best surgeon ever. Besides being his scrub tech, i also considered him a friend and mentor. He will truly be missed by all whose lives he touched.

On what would have been Clinton's 68th birthday, I feel grief in the loss, but joy in the memory of times we spent together. Clinton and I were best friends from the 9th grade through college. We studied together and had times of good fun. I was blessed to share a lot of this time with his wonderful family--his father, mother, sister, and grandparents. I think about them often and cherish these memories. Larry Clinton walked me thruough cancer surgery and recovery. I remember his tender skill and--most of all--his big heart. Mary Ann

Thank you for saving my 10 year old daughter's life. You will be sorely missed in Mountain Home.

God Bless and know how much we all thought of Dr. Cook. He saved my life in 1987. I was brought from Ga., to Ky. Norton Hospital where Dr. Cook performed surgery on me. We had a good friendship and I will always remember his kindness and his concern for his patients because I was one I will surely miss him. I'll keep you in my prayers. Good bye Dr. Cook you were one of a kind.

I feel like I lost a friend instead of just my doctor. I will never forget his smiling face when I walked into his office. He made me feel so safe and well. Now, I feel like I have been left out in the cold. God sends special people our way sometimes and Dr. Cook was sent mine. I am so glad he enjoyed the butter, milk, and deer meat we gave him. God gave him such a wonderful talent of being a doctor and surgeon. My husband and I truly miss him. My husband, Dale, wanted to take him hunting this fall. We pray that God gives you comfort during your time of grief. With Loving Memory, Dottie & Dale Long

When I opened the obituary section of the paper and saw Dr. Cook's smiling face I broke into tears. He was always my favorite doctor and was truly special. I could just visualize him coming into the exam room with that same great smile. For all he did for me for some 30 years I will be eternally grateful and my deepest sympathy goes out to his family.

Our deepest sympathies to the entire Cook Family. We knew Dr Cook many years, he was a very loyal customer and friend to us at Tafel Motors, his wonderful smile will be missed. His passing saddened us very much, it was a great honor to have known him, also he was a great friend to our U of L. he will be greatly missed

To the family of Dr. Cook, My deepest sympathies to your entire family. I, like many, many others thought Dr. Cook "hung the moon". He was my doctor from when I was 17 years old until he left for Arkansas. To have him as my doctor for 26 years was a privilege. I am truly saddened by his passing but honored to have know him.

Ah, Dr. Cook.......the Rock & Roll star of GYN !.......I was one of Dr. Cook's first patients when he started practice here in Louisville. Dr. Cook was one of a kind, most importantly he was such a kind and caring man. When you were in Dr. Cook's office he made you feel like you were the only patient he had.....What a guy......My sympathy and prayers to his family.

We were blessed to have known Dr. Cook and his family. Thank you for the beautiful memories. Our hearts are broken. Love to Clint and Chris.

Dr. Cook was the BEST!!! I am deeply saddened by his passing. There will never be another Doctor like him. He was compassionate and loved all his patients. He was always there for me and he had a way about him that made me feel like I was the only patient he had. God Bless him and his family.

I rember Clinton when his family lived on Bardstown Road in Louisville, KY. My father did gardening work for the Cook family. Clenton will be missed.

Thank you Dr. Cook for being a wonderful friend and physician. I appreciate all of your skills and kindness during my illness. My sympathy to Dr. Cook's family. The rivers and streams of heaven await you.

We will miss you Dr. Cook.

I was one of Dr. Cook's patients in Louisville and was treated successfully for cervical cancer by Dr. Cook. He was a brillant doctor as well as a gentleman and friend. He treated all of us like we were special. The medical community has truly lost a valuable person. He was excellent in his field of expertise. So sorry to hear about his passing and will remember his family in my prayers.

I had the honor of being Dr. Cook's Scrub nurse at Norton Hospital from 1979-1984. In addition, he was my Doctor as well as my family's and many friends'. In my opinion there has never been and will never be a Surgeon as fine, skilled and deeply missed as this man. He will live in my memory always.

I was privileged to have Dr. Cook as my physician at a difficult time. He will will be greatly missed.

Clint and Heather, we were so sorry to hear of the loss of your dad. Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers.

It has been a privilege and an honor to work with Dr. Cook in the OR, as well as being one of his many patients. He was an excellent teacher and technician, and shared his expertise with so many. He will be sorely missed in the medical community as a personal friend, as well as a physician. May his family take comfort in knowing how much he meant to SO many. Reba Katsampes, RN

I have three daughters who were all delivered by Clinton Cook, II. He was such a good and kind man, and after his death, I started seeing Dr. Cook, III. He was my doctor for approximately 35 years until he moved to Arkansas. He was an excellent doctor and a fine gentleman and I extend my sympathies to his family and friends. He will surely be missed.

Clint You guys are in our thoughts and Prayer. Roe & Family

It is with such sadness that I write this message. Dr. Cook was a wonderful addition to our medical community and he will be missed by so many patients, nurses and colleagues. As one of my physicians, I counted on his vast knowledge and kind consideration. I never felt rushed during an office visit and certainly valued. After surgery he was kind to my husband and he took time to find a common respect for vintage books. We will both miss him greatly.

Dr. Cook was my doctor for several years. He also operated on me. He was a fine doctor who made you feel like he really cared . He had a wonderful smile and warm personality. I am sure he will be missed by all who knew him. What a great loss!

A doctor and a gentleman, very much loved and respected. It is my privilege to have been his patient. A tremendous loss here...a wonderful gain "above." (Give Barbaro a pat for me, doc.) Love and prayers, Susann Crespino

With Deepest Sympathy May you be comforted knowing that your friends are behind you, angels surround you, and God is always holding your hand. I am so sorry for the loss of Dr. Cook. He was one special Doctor!!!!! Ellen Moran

Dr. Cook was a kind, caring Dr.. He operated on my mother years ago and she was in for her checkup and began to cry. He wanted to know what was wrong and she told him she had gotten her insurance statement and she still owed 360.00 but didn't have it. She is a proud woman and definetly wanted to pay. Dr Cook told her don't worry about that. Then said well Nora what do you think you caould pay monthly? She said how about 10.00 and he said that would be fine. She paid her 10.00 each month and though it took her a long time she paid it. That was the kind of man he was. You don't find that much anymore. I truly appreciate the kindness and respect he showed my Mother.

Dr. C will be so truly missed, from the "fishing stories" to the medical wisdom that he shared with us, we thank him for the short time that he shared in all of our lives. As a patient, co-worker, and friend......my life will forever be touched by this truly brilliant man. To his family, I am holding you all up in prayer at this time and would like to thank you for sharing your loved one with all of us. God Bless you all.

Dr. Cook's Dad was my first Doctor, and then I had the good fortune of having Dr. Clinton C. Cook III as my Doctor. He saved my life in 1977, and I am forever grateful. He was also the Doctor for 4 of my sisters, 2 sisters-in-law and a niece. We are very sad to read of his death today. Our prayers are with his family.

I never look at the obits, but this caught my eye, and I cried. Dr. Cook was my very favorite Doctor!!!!! He got me, and my family, thru some difficult times, and lots of "not so difficult times" since 1980. He will be loved and missed by everyone he has ever touched. I am so sorry . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

I was very sorry when Dr. Cook left the Louisville area. I extend my sympathy to his family. I don't believe I would be here today without his expert surgery talents. My surgery was in l988 and I feel I am alive today because of him.

To the Cook Family: It is with great sadness to learn of Dr. Cook's death. I was employed by Dr. Milton Miller for almost 25 years as his assistant and we shared many patients with Dr. Cook. He was very compassionate and always stood ready, no matter the time of day or with regard to his schedule when we needed him. He truly was a class act and a true gentleman in every sense of the word. Upon our retirement in 1997, I had the pleasure to run into him in the halls when I had assignments with JCMS. The medical community has surely lost a great person and will be deeply missed. My prayers and thoughts to all of you.

My deepest sympathy goes out to the family of Dr. Cook. If it was not for his expertise, I would not be here. He saved my life in Sept. 1993 and I am eternally grateful! He was an awesome doctor and throughout the 13 years of being my dr., he became my friend. We shared hunting pictures at appointments and laughed a lot! Dr. Cook, you will be greatly missed!

Dr. Cook's patient for 20+ years. So sorry to learn of his passing.

God- Bless the Family . My prayers are with you and yours....he was a great Doctor and he will be missed very much. l

You came into my life at a time when I really needed a kind, intelligent, concerned specialist. Thank you for taking such wonderful care of me! My family and I will enjoy many years to come, thanks to you! May you rest peacefully with the Great Physican who guided your skillful hands and heart for many years. Wendy Spivey patient P.S. I'm sure there are crystal clear trout streams in heaven for you to enjoy!

My first meeting with Dr. Cook was in 1973 when he literally saved by life by sending me straight to Norton's to remove a ruptured appendix. (Two other doctors said it was the stomach flu). For 34 years he has been my doctor and friend. For my last yearly visit to him, we drove 8 hours to Mt. Home. This was in May of this year and I am so glad I saw him one last time. There are so many of us that will miss him. He was one of a kind. This is sent with heavy heart and sympathy to his family and friends. Leesa Hill

To the family of Dr.. Cook, this man was an outstanding doctor and friend. He also saved my life and for that I could never forget him. He was such a wonderful and caring man. My condolences to the loss of not only a great doctor, but a great friend.

Today when I saw Dr. Cook's smiling face in the orbit section of the Courier it made me so very sad. In 1973, Dr. Cook's fresh ideas and knowledge for surgery made it possible for me to have a daughter some years later. All others had recommended a complete hystrectomy. I have always been so thankful to him for that and took my daughter in to meet him about 10 years ago. Over the years I would recommend him to many people who also had similar stories of success to tell. Dr. Cook always listened and took every complaint seriously. He was truly "One of the very Best"! A 20 yr+ patient, Bonnie Denny

My prayers and heart goes out to all the family of this wonderful man we did get to know over the years. He was a great Dr. and friend. He will be missed so much. Love to the family.

Dear Virginia and Mrs. Cook, I'm so sorry to hear about Clinton's illness and death. I know you have heard plenty of testimonies from Clinton's patients as to what kind of doctor he was. He was an excellent doctor to me and also a good friend. My heart goes out to you both and the rest of Clinton's family for the loss and grief you are feeling now. I think of your family often and love my memories and both of you. May God comfort you now in your time of need. Love, Sharon "Walker" Thompson

My heart goes out to the Cook family. Dr. Cook was always a pleasure to be around, and he and his family introduced me to many experiences that I would have never have experienced otherwise. I am very fortunate to have known Dr. Cook, and his wonderful family he leaves behind. Thanks again for all of the memories!

My heart goes out to his loved ones.

The loss of Dr Cook is a great loss to so many. He was a great addition to the medical community here and will truly be missed.
