Connis Gilbert, age 84, of Mountain Home died Friday, February 2, 2007.  She was born June 12, 1922, in Flippin, Arkansas, to Jim Kirk and Elva (Wilkerson) McCracken. Mrs. Gilbert received her teaching certificate after study with the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. She began her career teaching in several small country schools, where she taught grades 1 through 12. She taught school at Oakland, Price Place, Hill Top, and others. This was work that she remembered fondly and of which she was very proud. Later, she worked as a home builder with Gilbert Swift Homes. She then obtained her real estate license and worked for over 30 years at both Gilbert Realty and Ed Gilbert and Associates Realty Company. She was a charter member of the Twin Lakes Home Builders’ Association

     Mrs. Gilbert is survived by 3 sons: Roland (Marsha) Gilbert, Ed (Carolyn) Gilbert and Ron (Sharon) Gilbert all of Mountain Home; 7 grandchildren: Connie Ann Sales of Kansas City, Tony (Sally) Gilbert of Mountain Home, Terri (Kent) Holder of Nixa, Missouri, Todd (Jodi) Gilbert of Mountain Home, Jessica (Josh) Evans of Mountain Home, Angie Gilbert of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and Kirk Gilbert of Mountain Home; 10 great-grandchildren, 2 sisters: Nelly (Guy) Hogan of Mission, Kansas and Ivoree Albright of Overland Park, Kansas; 1 brother J.T. (Hedda) McCracken of Monarch, Arkansas, several nieces, nephews, and a special caregiver, Peggy Light. She was preceded in death by her parents and the late C.R. “Coke” Gilbert, Sr.

     Visitation will be from 12:00 to 9:00 p.m. Monday at Roller Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m.  Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday in the Roller Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Sam Bailey officiating.  Interment will follow in Baxter Memorial Gardens.  Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Ozarks or Ozark Community Home.  Visit www.rollerfuneralhomes.com for an online guestbook.
