Osher Ishmul Blackwood 
of Marshall, AR
September 22, 1919 - April 29, 2017 Osher Ishmul Blackwood, age 97 of Marshall, Arkansas passed from this life on Saturday, April 29th, 2017 at the VA Hospital in Little Rock, Arkansas. He was born in Harriet, Arkansas on September 22nd, 1919 to Archie Blackwood and Nora Manuel Blackwood.
Osher was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in WWII earning a Bronze Star during his part of the Rhineland Campaign. His Christian faith was a strong evident force in his daily life, always treating others with respect and courtesy, eager to help those in need, ready at all times to go 'anywhere', and he lived his life with a twinkle in his eye and a heart ready to laugh or cry as the situation dictated. His kindness and unassuming nature drew countless people to him, and he relished his family and friendships, always ready to visit and look for the good in others. His generosity extended into his business life, as countless people bought used cars from him, which he financed for them if they couldn't afford to pay for it at the time. He was a family man, raising 4 daughters and then starting all over with 2 infant boys after his daughter passed away. His dedication to God, to his family, and to the good treatment of his many friends and neighbors will long stand as a legacy to be emulated as a 'life well lived'.
Osher is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Evelyn Jo Wadkins Blackwood; children, Lenora Mathis, Barbara Jackson and Ricky Jackson; grandchildren, Renee Jacobs, Kelly Mathis, Terry Jackson and Stephen Jackson; great-great grandchild, Caleb Jacobs; siblings, Ulysses, Homer and Dink Blackwood, Okla McKinney, Beatrice Blackwood, Captola Blackwood and Emma Prewett; and son-in-law, Leon Campbell.
Survivors include his children, Jo E. Campbell of Benton, AR; Michael Jackson and wife Elisha of White House, Tennessee, and Wanda Archer and husband Ted of Granbury, Texas; grandchildren, Lenita, Dana, Billy, Stacy, Shawn, Randy, Keith, Steven, Jason, Larry, Michael, Lacey, Jay and Shane; fifteen great-grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren; sister, Maggie Kyle of AZ; brother, Jim Blackwood of Marshall; and many other friends and family who will miss his gentle presence in their lives.
Visitation will be 6:00 till 8:00 PM Monday, May 1st, 2017 at Roller-Coffman Funeral Home in Marshall, Arkansas. Funeral services for Osher will be 12:00 PM on Tuesday, May 2nd, 2017 at Marshall Assembly of God Church with grandson Bro. Jason Campbell and Bro. Phillip Clark officiating. Following the service at Marshall Assembly friends and family will proceed to Red Oak Freewill Baptist Church for a brief service there honoring Osher’s life. Burial will follow at East Lawn Cemetery in Marshall, Arkansas. Pallbearers will be Steven Campbell, Jay Jackson, Larry Jackson, Michael Kent Jackson, Richard Jacobs, and Billy Mathis.
