Virginia Austin, 91, of Little Rock, passed away on October 28, 2016. She was born July 16, 1925 in Leachville, Arkansas, to the late Noah and Virgie Kisner.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin C. Austin, her daughter Teresa Austin (Slaton), and her son Alvin Lynn Austin, sister; Florence Rodgers, brothers; Noah Kisner, John R. Kisner, Franklin D. Kisner.
She is survived by daughter in law, Karen Austin, three grandchildren; Caleb Austin, Rebecca Anthony (Kyle), and Sarah Slaton, and one great-grand daughter, Alice Teresa Anthony, sisters; Imogene Koch, Zelma Johnson (Tommy), Charlotte Marlow (Stanley) and two brothers; Charles Kisner and Eric Kisner.

Virginia was a faithful Christian, a loving wife, and a mother totally dedicated to her children. She and Alvin were members of the Pleasant Valley Church of Christ in Little Rock for over 40 years where she served in various ministries. Virginia was always active in serving members of the church by making communion bread for worship services, having taught Bible Class at Pleasant Valley/Pulaski Heights congregations for 50 years. She taught in the Day School at 6th and Izard Church of Christ, and she also served her community as a Girl Scout Troop Leader and PTA president. Virginia was an excellent cook, and enjoyed having guests in her home. Her hobbies included gardening, quilting, and she was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed needlework.
Virginia leaves a host of family and friends who loved her dearly and greatly respected her. The family of Virginia Austin expresses thanks and appreciation for the loving care given to Virginia by the Ginny and Bob Shell Center and the Hickory Heights Health Center.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Paragould Children’s Home, 5515 Walcott Rd, Paragould, Arkansas or the Searcy Children’s Home, 208 E. Moore Ave., Searcy, Arkansas.
Services will be Monday, October 31, 2016 at 11:00 A.M., preceded by visitation beginning at 10:00 A.M., at Roller Chenal Funeral Home Chapel, 13801 Chenal Parkway, Little Rock, Arkansas, 72211, 501-224-8300 officiated by Mr. Nick Hamilton. Graveside service will be Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at 9:00 A.M. at Pinecrest Memorial Park in Alexander, 7401 Highway 5 North
