Ida Mae Staggs
of Batesville,
March 26, 1914 - January 24, 2013 Ida Mae (Pierce) Staggs, 98, of Southside died Thursday, January 24, 2013 at White River Medical Center.
She was one of twins born on March 26, 1914 in Southside to Jimmy Pierce and Ida (Foust) Pierce. She became a Christian as a young girl and was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Batesville.
She is survived by her twin sister, Ina Rae (Pierce) Staggs of Batesville; three sons: Rev. James R. Staggs and his wife, Mary of Sparta, TN, Henry L. Staggs and his wife, Mary Ann of Gladeville, TN and Jerry L. Staggs and his wife, Paula of Smyrna, GA; five grandchildren: Dr. James G. Staggs of Cookeville, TN, Vickie Lynne (Staggs) Poet of Cookeville, TN, Timothy Staggs of Gladeville, TN, Wesley Staggs of Atlanta, GA and Lee Staggs of Smyrna, GA; ten great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and many acquaintances and friends across several states.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lorenzo Staggs; one child, Vernon Leo Staggs; her parents; three brothers: Oscar Pierce, Henry Pierce and Jesse Pierce; and four sisters: Viola Bell, Ethel James, Susie Carlisle and Elsie Lawrence.
Pallbearers will be Dr. James Gregory Staggs, Timothy Staggs, Wesley Staggs, Don Renshaw, Frank Dickey and Paul Hines. Honorary pallbearers are Lieutenant Aaron Staggs and Lee Staggs.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday at the First Church of the Nazarene on the corner of Harrison and Sydney Streets in Batesville with Rev. James R. Staggs and Rev. Michael Johnson officiating.
Burial will be at Alderbrook Cemetery in Desha under the direction of Roller-Crouch Funeral Home of Batesville.
Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
