October 13, 1936 - October 2, 2008 JoAnn Hillis Smith, 71, of England, Arkansas went to be with the Lord October 2, 2008. She was born October 13,1936, to Arlin and Louise Childress Hughes in England, Arkansas.
JoAnn was a devoted member of the Landmark Baptist Church of England. She was an outgoing person who enjoyed life to the fullest. She was a take-charge type of person. JoAnn was a die-hard “Cowboys” fan but developed ties to the Denver Broncos. Her favorite sport was whatever her grandchildren were playing at the time.
JoAnn was a member of the Happy Dayers of Forrest City, AR.; Red Hat Society and President of the Joy Group, Senior Citizen’s both of Benton, AR.; and The Willing Workers at Landmark Baptist Church and The Widow’s Dinner both in England, Arkansas.
JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors are: two sons, Greg Hillis and his wife Donna of Pickens, AR and Doug Hillis and his wife Carrie of Conway, AR; one daughter, Vicky Hillis James and her husband Bill of Russellville, AR; two sisters, Betty Ward and husband Adrin of England, AR and Pam Faulkner and husband Johnny of England, AR; seven grandchildren: Matt Hillis and his wife Ellen of Fayetteville, AR; Dr. Jordan Hillis and his wife Ginger of Ashdown, AR.; Trey and Jon Ross James of Russellville, AR; Kyle Hillis of Conway, AR; Peyton Hillis of Denver, CO; Haley Hillis of Conway, AR; two great-grandchildren Katy Hillis of Fayetteville, AR; Hudson Hillis of Ashdown, AR and a special friend, Freddy Ward.
Visitation will be Friday, October 3, 2008 from 6-8 P. M. at Roller England Funeral Home (501) 842-3939. Services will be Saturday, October 4, 2008 at 10:00 A. M at Landmark Baptist Church in England, Arkansas with Bro. David Jimerson officiating. Burial will be in Mulberry Cemetery in England, Arkansas.
Pallbearers will be the grandchildren: Matt Hillis, Jordan Hillis, Kyle Hillis, Peyton Hillis, Haley Hillis, Jon Ross James, and Trey James. Honorary pallbearers will be Johnny Faulkner, Adrin Ward, Danny Maynard, Michael Ward, Van Gibbins, and Freddy Ward.
