Lucille Shields Alley, 84, of Georgia, formerly of Helena-West Helena, Arkansas passed away Friday, September 23, 2011 in Georgia. Mrs. Alley was born August 31, 1927 in Webb, Mississippi to the late Ernest L. Shields and the late Modie Lorene Tilghman Shields. She worked as a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell for 37 years.
Lucille lived with her nephew, Rob Roy, and his family, Vicki, James and Robert in Douglasville, Georgia for the last 20 months. She is survived by a sister, Louise Rushing of Little Rock, Arkansas; a brother, Ernest Shields of Little Rock, and five nieces, Kappi Ross, Margaret Woodyard, and Karen Shields of Little Rock and Allison Roy of Woodstock, GA and Tracey Bengough of Charlotte, N.C..
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Alley; her parents; one brother, James Robert Roy, Jr.; and one sister, Margaret Roberts.
Graveside services for Lucille Alley will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, September 25, 2011 at Sunset Memorial Park in West Helena, Arkansas. Reverend Dusty Rhodes will officiate.
Services will be directed by Roller-Citizens Funeral Home, West Helena, (870) 572-2571.
I am sorry for your loss. I worked with Lucille and her sister, Margaret, at the telephone co. for about 10 years. I remember them well. Lucille was a very sweet person, always kind and smiling.
