Betty Jean Thomas, 87, of Little Rock, Arkansas passed away on Thursday, March 16, 2023. She was born on August 23, 1935 in Bethany, Missouri to the late William Ira and Eva Marie King.

Betty was a small-town girl with goals and aspirations. Through years of hard work she built a successful life for herself from the ground up. She started at a small college in Kansas and then moved to Florida to continue her education. After a time, she transferred to Michigan State where she completed her Doctorate.

Betty met her husband, James, in 1994 and was happily married later in 1995. Betty and James built a life together full of adventures. They loved to travel together, going coast to coast all over the United States. In her earlier years, Betty assisted her husband who is a board member of Pine Grove Cemetery. She took on many responsibilities as the cemetery secretary for 15 years.

Betty also worked for the University of Arkansas. She was a corporate extension specialist and dedicated 20 years before retiring. Betty was a member of Primrose Methodist Church in Little Rock.

She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Eva King and son, Billy King.

Betty is survived by her loving husband of 28 years, James E. Thomas; son, Jerry Youngman (Nancy); daughter, Debra Youngman; 3 grandchildren; sister, Sherrie Stanley and special niece, Jennifer Horton.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at 10:00 A.M, at Pine Grove Cemetery in Sweet Home, Arkansas.

A visitation will be held prior on Monday, March 20th from 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. at Roller-Owens Funeral Home in North Little Rock.

Betty was a much admired member of Primrose Church. She was active in the women's mission projects and in the community. She will be greatly missed.
