Robert Edward DavisI am a Veteran.

of Jacksonville, AR

February 28, 1938 - April 6, 2022

Robert Edward Davis, 84, of Jacksonville, Arkansas, joined the angel band on April 6, 2022. He was born on a houseboat on the St. Francis River, February 28, 1938, and spent his early years on the river and in the Delta cotton fields. Robert married the love of his life in 1960. The following year, he entered the United States Air Force, from which he retired after twenty-one years of service. He then worked for the United States Postal Service for sixteen years. He filled his time playing guitar, writing songs, volunteering at nursing homes, studying God's word, and foremost, being the calm, guiding leader of his family.

Robert was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother who lived a truly sacrificial life. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 61 years, Gladys Paulette Clark Davis; two children, Robin Davis Monroe and Robert Edward Davis, Jr.; four grandchildren, Elijah Clark Davis (wife, Hannah), Ivy Monroe, Isaac Monroe, and Tess Monroe; four brothers, Scott Davis (wife, Lou), Lee Davis, John Davis and David Davis; five sisters, Fern Guidice, Martha Myers, Dorothy Baskins, Rachel Davis (husband, Lee Earl), and Ruby Rogers (husband, David); and many other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by one sister, Allene Colvin, and his parents, Otis and Agnes Davis.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 14 at 10:00 AM, at Zion Hill Baptist Church in Cabot. A visitation will be held one hour prior to services, with a graveside service following in procession to Arkansas State Veterans' Cemetery in North Little Rock. A meal will be served at the church at 1:00.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make donations to Zion Hill Baptist Church or Arkansas Baptist Children's Home.

From what I read and understand Robert went to be with the Lord on4-6-2022 and from reading his obituary my sister Phyllis Kay(Thompson) Cowan was met at the portals of heaven the next day. I don’t remember a lot about Robert but knew his younger siblings. Our prayers are with you and your family. One day very soon we'll be there with all our other loved ones and friends ❤. May God's blessings go with you all.

You were my brother my mentor my father figure and my friend. I’ll miss you more than words can express. I loved you for 69 plus years. I’ll see you again in our heavenly home, we will sing God’s praises together. Until then I’ll cherish the memories you left us and always remember the Christian example you left on my life and all who knew you. May God comfort us all in the days ahead as we wait for our homecoming.
