Peggy Lou Hammond Horton, age 69 of Marshall, Arkansas passed from this life on Thursday, January 9th, 2020 at her daughter's home in Marshall, Arkansas while holding her children's hands and surrounded by loved ones. She was born in Fordyce, Arkansas on September 25th, 1950 to Lawrence Hammond and Marjorie King Hammond.
Peggy was of the Pentecostal faith and attended New Life Tabernacle in Marshall, Arkansas. She loved attending church and her church family was very dear to her. Peggy was a determined, hardworking woman who had many talents. She helped raise her family by working in the logging woods, working several years at Flintrock Shirt Factory; she provided in-home health care and worked as a supervisor of home health with the Searcy County Health department as a registered nurse. Peggy enjoyed fishing and hunting with her sons and brothers. She loved her grandchildren and great-grand children with all her heart. Nanny Peggy's world would light up when they were around.
Survivors include her children, Edward Horton and wife Clarissa of Marshall and Tina Horton and husband Reynold, also of Marshall; grandchildren, Jared Horton, Chelsea Horton, Makayla Horton, Delaney Horton and Landon Horton; three great-grandchildren, Addi Hogue, Cade Horton and Ollie Lee; brothers, Larry Hammond (Polly) of Fordyce and Glenn Hammond (Linda), also of Fordyce; special friend, David Chaney; and the father of her children, Preston Horton and wife Debbie.
Peggy is preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Marjorie Hammond; her son, Shelton Horton; brother, Ricky Reid; and step-dad, L.B. Reid.
Funeral services for Peggy will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, January 14th, 2020 at New Life Tabernacle Church in Marshall, Arkansas with Bro. Don Campbell officiating. Visitation will be 6:00 till 8:00 PM Monday, January 13th, 2020 at Roller-Coffman Chapel in Marshall. Burial will be in Red Hill Cemetery near Marshall. Friends and family will serve as bearers.
