He was a farmer of multiple row crops until his retirement in 2005, was a volunteer fireman and emergency medical technician for the Rosedale Volunteer Fire Department for many years, and served on the city council in Salesville, AR. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, grilling, and making bluebird houses. He was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church in Rosedale, MS, and then East Side Baptist Church in Mountain Home, AR, when he and Anne moved to Salesville in 2005.
John is survived by Anne, his wife of 71 years, one son: Johnny Brister, and his wife Gloria and their son Adam; and his daughter Bobbi Nichols and her husband Billy.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, April 26, 2022, at Roller Funeral Home in Mountain Home with Rev. Scott Speer officiating.

We were saddened to hear of John’s passing and want to extend our deepest sympathy to his family especially his daughter, Bobbi, and son,
John. As neighbors on River Acres Drive we want to say “Thanks again, John, for the Blue Bird houses.”
I attended church at East Side Baptist Church with John, his wife Anne and their daughter Bobbi. What a wonderful family. I looked forward each Sunday to seeing John at our Sunday services. He always blessed me with a positive word. I have such lovely memories of him. Sending love, hugs and prayers for comfort to his family.
THINKING OF MY SWEET FRIENDS AT THIS TIME...LOVE Clometa register
Mr. John and Mrs. Anne lived across the street from me when I was growing up in Rosedale, MS a long time ago.
I have a lot of great memories of Mr. John and the times he share with his son Johnny and I.
Rest in heavenly peace Mr. John.
David and have so many wonderful memories of our time with John and Anne Brister when David pastored the church in Rosedale. We were sad to hear of his passing but hallelujah we know he’s with Jesus and we will see him again one day. Our prayers are with Anne, Bobbie and Johnny during this time. Love and prayers,
Bro. David and Lisa Sartin
John was a wonderful neighbor for over 20 years. I learned so much about nature and the way of the seasons form Mr. John. He was always willing to help us anytime we needed anything and was always there for us. We miss him every day but know that he is at peace.
John and Anne have been wonderful neighbors over the years. He kept a garden full of fresh things to share. Sometimes after the harvest in MS, he would have a truckload of corn to give. They were caring, concerned, God loving folks whose friendship we treasured.
Our sympathy to this loving family,
Mike and Julie Williamson
