Sincerest condolences to the entire Small family from the entire Harris family on the loss of your dad. The Leamon Harris family could not have asked for better neighbors than the family of Melvin and Patsy Small and their four sons. The friendship goes back many, many years. Knowing they were going to see David and Doug was one of the many reasons Darren and Johnny loved to visit their Grandma and Grandpa Harris. They spent many happy hours with those boys roaming the roads and fields of Jordan, AR together enjoying their youth. Many prayers for strength and comfort for all of you during this difficult time. You are loved by many...

Move to Norfork just a few months ago. Meet Melvin and Joan a few days after moving into our new home. Melvin spoke to me about fishing and I asked about the lay of the land, he offered his help and advice then closed with I call you and will go fishing. Next I seen Melvin was picking me up after a short call to grab the pole we are going to the white river. A great day of fishing and the building of a Great relationship. The snow came and a knock at the door with Melvin and his son wanting to plow the drive. Who could ask for better neighbors. Last I seen Melvin I asked him if he would help the wife if she called due to me leaving the state for a couple weeks he said sure thing. Never got to say thank you for teaching me to be a better neighbor. Thank you Melvin and Joan for being the epitome of friendship and neighborly. Melvin you will be greatly missed.

There's not a lot of men in this world that I would put in the same category as my own Dad; however, Melvin Small certainly belongs to that special group of great men. He's a man of great strength, integrity, and strong Faith. You will be missed here on earth, but I look forward to seeing you again in a place where there is only love and goodness. Until we meet again!

Karen had the pleasure and awe of seeing Melvin and Joan pour out their talents at the Hospice House. They were such a wonderful presence sharing food and laughter as they worked at anything that needed doing. Karen didn't know their last name and we now see they headed the kind and precious Small family we know.

Terry, Glenda and Julie we send our deepest sympathy.

Melvin was as fine a man as I’ve ever known. He retired from NAEC just as I was beginning my career. But we quickly became friends. The entire NAEC family mourns the loss of Melvin. I personally never saw Melvin without a laugh and a smile. We’ve talked a lot the past few weeks as he struggled with his health. And in those conversations he was the same Melvin…optimistic and full of laughter. He was a great friend. I’ll always cherish our friendship. Thoughts and prayers for the entire family and friends.

Joan and family, our family is crushed to hear the news of Melvin's passing. He was a super friend to our family and always one to help whenever needed. Remember the pontoon birthday party we had with a boys boat and a girls boat! He was so helpful to us when we had our pontoon boat, checking on it and putting the additive in the gas tank. He taught our grands about running a trot line and fishing for crappie. We have lots of happy memories to sustain us and we will be praying for your family for comfort and strength.
