August 22, 1925 - March 6, 2019
Heaven gained another beautiful soul. Lavada Phillips passed away peacefully at her home on March 6, 2019.
Born August 22, 1925 in Zion, Arkansas to Oscar and Geneva Miller, Lavada was the 9th of 10 children. Her greatest joy in life was loving and taking care of her family. She married Arnold Phillips and the two had one cherished daughter, Teresa Ann. Lavada was known as Aunt Day to all except a few who had the privilege of calling her Mom or Granny. She never met a stranger. She could quickly quiet a crying baby, whip up breakfast for 12 and be ready to go fishing- all before the sun rose. She was always set on 'go.' Lavada is preceded in death by her parents Oscar and Geneva Miller, husband, Arnold Phillips, brothers Delbert Miller (Hazel) and T.O. Miller (Rachel), sisters Elsie Woods (Hayden), Lillian Duren (Edwin), Mildred Finley (Cornelius), Nobia Duren (Paul), Jewell Carpenter (Orville), Snodia Fudge, Eva Haley (Boyce). She is survived by daughter Teresa Barnhill (Jim), grandchildren Melissa Reeves (Robert) and Jeremy Barnhill (Lisa), great-grandchildren Derrick Reeves (Candice), Dallas Reeves, Savannah Reeves, Makayla Barnhill along with numerous beloved nieces, nephews and greats.
Visitation will be Sunday, March 10th from 2-4pm at Roller-Crouch Funeral Home in Melbourne with a graveside service on Monday the 11th at 10am at Antioch Cemetery in Zion, Arkansas. Pastor Gail Johnson will officiate. Pallbearers are Chris Haley, Eddie Haley, Dennis Mashburn, Earnie Blackley, Roger Duren and Keith Brown.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to the Antioch Cemetery Fund.
I just heard about Aunt Day. She will be so missed. I have so many great memories of her during my summers at Grandma's house.
Aunt Day was a very special Lady. A true inspiration. We loved her dearly. Deepest love and condolences for your loss
My prayers are with you guys.
Aunt Day loved me as if I were her own Grandchild. I sure did love her too. My condolences to the family
Granny was a very special lady to us all. David and her would sit and talk for hours when we were all together. She was so tickled when my granddaughter was born she got to be listed as grandmother so she could go in the NICU at children's and see her. So many wonderful memories. We loved her and she will be missed.
In our thoughts and prayers,
Phyllis, Alan, Paige, & Andrew Vickery
