December 1, 1947 - June 12, 2022
Gaytha Hansard was born in Wichita, KS on December 1, 1947 to Lela Mae Cook. She joined her savior Jesus and her husband, Jim, on June 12, 2022. She was an incredible wife, mother and friend. Her children were her greatest accomplishments until her grandson, Bryce arrived. She loved all her family fiercely, but Bryce was the second love of her life, as he was to ''Big Jim''. The majority of her life was spent as a homemaker, but Gaytha was an avid volunteer, lending her services to the Alzheimer's Association (she actually testified in front of the Arkansas state senate on Alzheimer's issues), Maumelle Senior Citizen Center and Special Olympics of Arkansas. She was a member of New Life Church in Maumelle and attended regularly until she was unable to do so.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Hansard; her mother, Lela Mae Cook and many aunts and uncles. She is survived by her daughter, Michelle Hansard (Mike); son, Jim Hansard (Angela); her grandson, Bryce Hansard (Anna) and best friend, Beverly Masters.
Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 18, 2022 at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home followed by burial at Riverwood Memorial Gardens in Maumelle. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Friday, June 17 at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Arkansas Alzheimer's Association, 11300 N. Rodney Parham Rd., Suite 200. Little Rock, AR 72212 or www.alz.org/arkansas.
To Gaytha’s Family, I just found out that your Mom died. I’m so sorry. I know you will miss her every day. I will say prayers for you all.
I just found this today. I am so sorry for our loss of Gaytha. I have loved my friend since 1980 when we met and worked at Target. She was such a beautiful, sweet soul, funny, talented and loved her family dearly. I love you Gaytha.
I first met Gaytha when we both worked at Target's distribution center in Maumelle. But I got to know her better after retirement, when we both volunteered serving lunches at the Maumelle senior center every Monday. She was always chatty and fun to work with. Gaytha was very good at keeping a group of us Target retirees in touch by organizing occasional lunch outings, where we caught up on each other's lives and reminisced on our working days. We especially enjoyed the Christmas potlucks she hosted in her beautifully decorated home. We shared many good meals and lots of laughs. I will always remember Gaytha for her wonderful sense of style, her funny stories, and deep love and devotion to her family. My deepest sympathies to all who loved her.

Gaytha was always so kind to me and Emma. She’ll be deeply missed by those who love her. Prayers for the family â¤ï¸
I met Gaytha in Clearwater, KS, while I attended elementary and middle school with Michelle. Gaytha and Jim were both always welcoming of my frequent visits to their "country home" and overnight stays. I have wonderful memories of Michelle's horse, the green Vega and listening to Eagles albums. I should have apologized more to Gaytha for the stress I know I caused her when Michelle and I would occasionally break the rules of youth. She always had a smile and a chuckle for me after a big hug when I would see her in the past few decades. I'm happy that she is now free of pain and frustration, but so sad for all of the Hansards and friends who loved her so much.
