Reverend Edwin Flinn Greathouse, Jr. (Baruch Ben Avraham) was truly the most amazing, wise, honorable, selfless humble servant of God & his family who lit up every room with God's pure love, joy & peace.
Eddie was born in Little Rock, Arkansas to his adoring parents Flinn & Frances Greathouse on November 13, 1942. While in high school at Joe T. Robinson, he met the love of his life at 16 yrs. old, Lilas Marion Benson Greathouse (14 yrs. old at the time). He voluntarily joined the United States Navy Seabees to serve his country paving the way on the front lines of Vietnam flying over demilitarized zones to design the bridges, barracks, buildings for the Marines and other military coming in to fight for our country.
After graduating from the University of Arkansas, he was an amazing Builder both commercially & residentially, building playgrounds and schoolrooms pro bono for WVCA, then 25 years as Chief of Special Adaptive Housing Authority at the VA-with many awards including Veteran's Administration Employee of the Year. He voluntarily built over 35 churches, designing & building Living Christmas Tree sets for FBC, & all of his children's school/church production play sets at no charge to anyone.
As a Biblical Hebrew, he passed away at age 78 at home in Prairie Grove, Arkansas on Saturday, August 28, 2021. His brother in Christ, Kevin Hydorn will perform services at Roller Chenal on Thursday, September 2nd at 10 am. Visitation will be Wednesday 6-8 pm. Celebrating Papa in musical leadership will be Angie & Haley Hydorn.
He was preceded by his beautiful parents Edwin Flinn Greathouse, Sr. and Amelia Frances Greathouse, brother cousin John Polk and all of his adoring grandparents.
He is survived by his eternally loving wife Lilas Marion Greathouse, beloved children Michelle Edette Gramling - husband Paul, Heather Edie Strickland -husband Lee & Edwin Flinn Greathouse III; adoring grandchildren Lauren Keppel, Josiah Wymer, Drake Wymer, Jewel, Angel, Edwin Flinn IV & Abigail Greathouse; great-grandchildren Carter, Oaklyn, Ellie & Aiden, as well as, his brother cousins Jimmy & Lynn Polk, their wonderful families and John's wonderful wife and daughter.
His last loving message to all of us who knew and loved him: Remember I love each one of you dearly and the most important thing is to love the Lord your God and love your neighbor as you love yourself and I will be saving a place for you-my love for each one of you goes all the way to Heaven with me and I'll be waiting for you in Heaven. Marion I'll be walking the path slowly waiting for you- to Yahweh be the Glory!
Rest in peace, Mr. Greathouse.
