It is with great sadness that the family of John Stephen Maxey announces his passing in the early morning hours of Monday, January 11, 2021. John was born on July 21,1970 to Anne Worthington Maxey and the late Jerry D. Maxey, Sr. in Little Rock, Arkansas. He graduated from Hall High School in 1988, studied at the University of Arkansas, and graduated from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock in August 2004. John was so loved by his family and many friends and will be greatly missed. If you knew John, you knew he was full of life and had a BIG personality! John was an avid outdoorsman who loved the great state of Arkansas and was very passionate when it came to music. He loved his son, Cole, and nothing made him happier than spending time with him.
John is survived by his son, Cole Gaston Maxey; his mother, Anne Maxey, brother Ron Pitts (Barbara), sister Sherri Maxey, his nephew Zack Maxey, half-brother Jack Maxey, his uncle Bob Worthington, and many more family and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be 3:00p.m. on Saturday, July 17, 2021, at Murry Park, 5900 Rebsamen Park Road, Little Rock, Arkansas 72202.

To the Family: I am absolutely heartbroken at the news of John's passing. Having been an employee of Superior Protection Service off and on for years, I was familiar with John but in the late 80's he was my relief at a job site. We had the occasion to chat just a few minutes every morning for several months and I loved talking to him.
He was always up to some antic that put a smile on my face.

He was a happy, active, bright seven year old when I knew him so many years ago. Teachers of little kids don't always remember their long ago students, but John was memorable. I wish I had words for the grief his family and friends are under but just know that you are in my heart. John was a part of my graduating class of 1988 at Hall High and years later I got to know his wonderful son Cole. John accompanied a group of us old friends, including Cole and his mother to a beach trip in South Carolina in 2014 and he was such a bright light it seemed that sunshine itself was challenged by his grin. He never simply walked up to you, but rather bounced. I'm glad he got to enjoy the trip with us. Peace to his family and many friends.
