Phyllis Ann "Phyl" Prentice Saugey

of Alexander, AR

September 27, 1955 - November 15, 2020

Phyllis Ann ''Phyl'' Prentice Saugey, age 65, went to walk with our Lord on Sunday evening November 15, 2020 at home after suffering a massive heart attack.

Phyllis was born in Sacramento, California on September 27, 1955 and raised in the Air Force family of Maj. Robert and Mildred Prentice. Phyllis became a ''free spirit'' at an early age and was quite a handful. She classified herself as an ''Airforce brat'' and has lived in Batesville, Arkansas, Bradenton Florida and Little Rock, and earned a Bachelor's degree from UCA. She loved to teach children and could teach you how to swim in a snap. She was known for her big heart, compassion and love for animals, kids and people in need. She was also one of the ''Villa Girls'' from the Italian restaurant in Little Rock where she made life-long friendships that endure to this day.

Phyllis was married on Oct. 2, 1999 to John W. Saugey of Little Rock, where she found her calling in the Estate and Auction Industry with John who is an Auctioneer. Phyllis found the business rewarding by helping folks in their time of need work through the process of liquidating an estate. Her compassion and caring helped many folks through a tough time. Phyl also became a licensed Auctioneer, and together they would conduct Estate Auctions and fundraiser events for many organizations and families over the next 23 years. She called an auction Sunday afternoon and loved every minute of it.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her father, Maj. Robert ''Bob'' Prentice, USAF Ret. and Stephen Smith, her older brother. Phyl is survived by her husband, John of Alexander (Lake Norrell Community); mother, Mildred Prentice of N. Little Rock; sister, Sonia Graham (Roger, Sarah and Olivia) also of Alexander; brother, Marc Prentice (Lori, Patricia, Tori and Patrick) of Ocala Florida and other loved ones in California and Florida.

Phyllis helped people all that she could right up to the end as an approved and successful tissue and organ donor. Hopefully a little of her compassion, personality and stubbornness will also transfer. Lord help the recipients.

Due to the Covid-19 virus there will not be a memorial at this time for safety reasons. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Harmony In Hooves Inc, a (501)(c)(3) company providing Equine therapy for mobility challenged children and adults at harmonyinhooves.org, or your local animal shelter. The family thanks each and every one of you for thoughts and prayers.

John, still can't believe it. There was only one Phyllis, never splitting hairs. But always a good friend, she was like part sister part mother to me. A true loss, I will miss her personality. Be strong and let time handle the rest. With love and prayers. David.

John is really going to miss you but I know that he has the happiest memories of your time together just like I do for the last 26 years of going to the auctions, partying at the lake house and our Pennsylvania auction trip we took together. You were one of a kind and I'm glad that we were friends and sad to see it end. PS: The line in your obituary "Lord help the recipients" was a hoot and I got the biggest chuckle from it.

Ecclesiastes 12:7
And the dust returns to the earth as it was, and the spirit returns to God who gave it.
John we are sorry for your lost and we will miss her.
Phyllis really was a free spirit and one of the most adorable ladies I would have the privilege to call my friend.
